Post Desperate Housewives: Season 3
The third season of pop-culture sensation Desperate Housewives begins Sunday, September 24 at 9pm on ABC.

The second season took a lot of heat and endured some backlash for a dip in creativity and writing.
I thin overall, the first season was wrapped up much better as a whole and as individual episodes than the second but looking back, I don't think Season 2 was that big of a step down at all.

Apparently, the actors, writers, and producers are confident Season 3 will be a large improvement over Season 2 and will reinforce the dark comedy that made Season 1 a hit.

Season 1 averaged 23 million viewers and season 2 took a dip down to 22 million viewers, so it's going to be interesting to see how season 3 fares.

So, who will be watching?

We have alot of news about season 3 storylines... a lot of spoilers ahead so look no further if you don't want to know what's in store...

[spoil]
Season 3 is going to take place 6 months after the finale.
Bree is getting married to Orson around whom the mystery of season 3 will revolve.
The housewives will be working together much like season 1 out of worry over Bree's new husband.
Mike will be in a coma and susan will fall for a man whose wife is also in a coma.
Mike will come to sooner or later but something will be "off" about him.
Gabrielle and Carlos will be living together but doing everything to tick the other one off as they move toward divorce.
Lynette will compete with Tom's ex with whom he fathered a child.
Lynette will then quit her job to help run a pizzeria with Tom.
Edie's son will come into the picture and pursue something with Susan's daughter.
Ther will be a hostage situation in a market around season 3 and we are promised some dead bodies throughout the season.[/spoil]

I'll be watching. I hope they pick it back up to the level of the first season, although I'm not as critical about season 2 as most. Instead of bringing in new actors, they should just give Edie a bigger part. She's the best of all of them, although Bree and Gabrielle are close. At this point, since all 5 women are identified with the show, there's no reason to keep her character down because she started out as a supporting part.

Season 3 premieres tonight.

The long rpomo commercials they have had on abc make it look REALLY good. I love the style and music and everything of the new advertising. Hope it's really juicy!

I'm hoping season 3 is a lot like season 1, because I would love to be in love with this show again, rather than moderately entertained like I was last season.

Likewise.

I don't like Eva Longoria's new hair. Looks odd.

Anyone want to give me a recap of the season finale? A simple one, not a big recap. That's the only episode I didn't watch.

Hmmm... I don't exactly remember where it started...

Felicia set up Paul Young to make it look like he murdered her (she cut off two of her fingers for it). So Paul was in jail and asked Zach to ask his biological grandfather (the old dying guy that hired Mike Delfino in seaosn 1) for money to get a good lawyer and what not. Zach goes to the grandfather, pulls the plug on his life support and inherits the entire estate but doesn't help his "dad" Paul Young.

Lynette had followed Tom to Atlanta and cought him in another woman's house. She packed the kids and left. After one of her kids falls and breaks an arm, she sees Tom at the hospital and Tom confesses to having a one night stad before they were married and he just found out he has another child. Later on, the mother of the child demands years' worth of child support and uses the money to buy a house near wusteria lane, so she and tom's lovechild will be in season 3.

Susan is cought between accepting charity from her husband who still loves her and giving it up to gain Mike's respect and heart. She chooses Mike and realizes he is going to propose. So while she sets up her trailer (where she lives now) for a romantic dinner, we see Mike getting flowers but suddenly gets run over by Orson (a dentists susan met in a movie theatre). So, Susan is left, sort of heart-broken, waiting for Mike.

Gabrielle finds Carlos cheating on her with their maid who is also the surrugate for their baby. She throws him out.

Bree had checked herself into some psychiatric institution but is really unwilling to talk about her issues or her children. We also find out that Kaylab (the mentally challenged one) isn't the one that killed that girl Melanie we heard about throughout the season, but it was his brother who has now run away with Bree's daughter, Danielle. Betty Applewhite call Bree and tells her that they need to find the two of them so the son won't harm Danielle. Bree escapes from the institution with the help of Orson (the guy who runs over Mike at the very end), who happens to be there. Danielle and her boyfriend return home to take some money and food. Bree gets home as well and there is a standoff with the boyfriend holding a gun at Bree. But he suddenly gets shot from the police outside. And we end with Orson bringing flowers to Bree at her house and Bree inviting him in.

Maybe that wasn't that short, but oh well ;)

Oh and premiere is going to take place 6 months after the finale.

I sometimes forget this show is still on the air, not that it should have been cancelled, it's ratings aren't that bad, but it is not a major buzz show anymore. I can understand people giving it another chance but I don't hold out much hope myself. The first season worked so well partly because it had one foot in reality and had established some realistic men to play off the main female characters. But it seemed like they eliminated/undermined a lot of that, and it has gone off into some lala land.

Same with me.

Not only did I find that season 2 veered off course, but I think I told myself that I liked season 1 a lot more than I really did. The show's drama is too ridiculous to be compelling, and there's not enough comedy there to watch the show for a humor fix. I think I found season 1 amusing, along with the fact that everybody else was watching this new watercooler show, and that's why I stuck with it -- and maybe "liked" it more than I really did. I rarely, though, was every truly taken with Susan running around like an idiot or houses catching on fire or really found myself laughing.

I've read a couple reviews for tonight's premiere, and supposedly it's taking more of a season 1 route, but that's still not enough for me to tune in.

And that narration...

Aww... like anything better is on at 9pm?

Just Kidding, lol... yes I know Family Guy and Cold Case are on too!

I still enjoy it quite alot. Season 1 was really well planned out. Season 2 was a bit up and down but looking back, I still really enjoyed it. I can't really describle why I like the show so much. It's definitely not one of my like top 5 favorites but for the time being it fulfills my guilty pleasure, juicy dramedy of the week craving. I think some of the storylines are compelling enough to be made into a great dramatic show but it is what it is.

But I actually must say... the acting by all 5 women is pretty top notch and just gets better as they understand their characters more. Eva and Marcia really shine. Felicity is always great and while I also can't really stand Teri's character to some point, she does pull off what she's payed to do pretty well.

I'm much more excited after seeing EW put it on their Must List, saying this season is a welcome return to form. I typically agree with them (save for their inexplicable love of Invasion) so hopefully they're right. My biggest concern is the Kyle MacLachlan character, who just sorta randomly appeared out of nowhere and is now marrying Bree? I hope his character is better developed in the premiere. And I hope Mike stays in a coma for the entire season, because he's the absolute dullest character on Wisteria Lane including the mailman and random extras who jog by in the background.

I've really liked this episode. It's been nearly all comedy and no horrible melodrama (Caleb! In The Basement!), which is how this show operates when it's effective. The bit with Bree's orgasm was classic.

Great episode. Makes up for the lackluster second season that I disliked so much I even missed a few episodes. I've been devoted to Grey's Anatomy since its first season, but if I had to pick a show right now that I was more excited about.. Desperate Housewives would be it.

Yeah, I agree. I think the show works best as a Sex & the City-style comedy, with a bit of a soap-opertic twist.

Anyway, did anyone else know the show took place in a town called Fairview?

And was that Laurie Metcalf from Roseanne as Orson's ex-neighbour???
