The 'Veronica Mars' Thread- Season 3
First of all, great new promo out. <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/H3UKDMUzrug" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed>
Second, to amuse myself during the hiatus, I've been following this interactive story type thing, over at http://www.helpmeveronica.com/ It started out with this:
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/K9HE2itZQ3o" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed>
circulating around the internet. Then the comments on the YouTube page started. They were from other Hearst students, and their profiles led you to LJs and MySpaces. Everyone is trying to find Steven. Then, a week later, this showed up.
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Pwm9mM5hJfc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed>
And now, the site has been "hacked." Clicking on "Click me" takes you to the start of a decoding adventure. I've figured out the first three codes, but I'm stuck on the fourth. Anyone who can help, it will be much appreciated. If you want to know how to get to the one I'm stuck on: [spoil]The first clue means that you should replace "page" with "help" in the URL. It takes you to a page with morse code. Decipher that and it says "Marlowe." The title of that page is "Just like the last one." So replace "help" with "marlowe." That takes you to a page that says "The OTHER part." So replace "marlowe" with "philip." (That one was a bit tricky.) That takes you to a page that has three last names written on a box, and the title is something about backwards. (This one I didn't figure out on my own.) The names are all from The Big Sleep, so you put that in instead of "philip" and it takes you to a page that is titled "ACINOREV" and says "SDRAWKCAB" so you put "thebigsleep" in backwards, and you get the page I'm stuck on now.[/spoil]

I got it. The extras are certainly better than season one, but still nothing too great. Some really great deleted scenes and a blooper reel. There are two little featurette thingys, but no commentary.

I think Amazon is cheapest, now. The sales at Target and Best Buy and the like ended pretty quickly.

I can't wait for season 3 to start!!!!!!! Although I don't plan to watch episode by episode, I plan to watch this season in three parts... I'll watch each arc mystery from start to finish in one day/night....
The second season was great, although I had some problems with the storyline [spoil]of Meg being pregnant, then dead, then Duncan running away with the baby... It was more like something Passions or Alll My Children would do, but there was no Duncan after that so at least the storyline had a great ending.[/spoil]
Overall I find second season better, but the arc mystery of the first is much more personal and more interesting.
One question: [spoil]Why did Meg's parents pay Lucky's bail money???? I didn't get that at all... Did they know about Woody, or...?[/spoil]

Overall I find second season better, but the arc mystery of the first is much more personal and more interesting. I completely agree. [spoil]All the Duncan stuff in the first half of the season makes much of the season difficult to rewatch. After Duncan leaves, it really picks up, but there's almost no progress made on the bus crash, and no evidence that Veronica really cares about it, until after all the stupid teen drama stuff ended. I'm really pissed at Rob Thomas for feeling the need to do that to justify writing out Duncan, or whatever. I just hope we can avoid that stuff this season. As much as I love the Logan/Veronica aspect of the show, if focusing on any relationship means we have to put up with that again, I'm more than willing to sacrifice it.[/spoil] Quote: One question: [spoil]Why did Meg's parents pay Lucky's bail money???? I think this might end up being something they just never got around to answering, like the spy pen in season one.

EDIT: Grrr. Have to better check all those signatures.
Still, enough time to see first two seasons.

[spoil]Meg's parents really liked Lucky, remember? Here's the exchange between Veronica and Meg in her dream:
Veronica: So Meg, what's with that guy, Lucky? Your parents' friend from church? I can't picture them wanting to set you up with someone.
Meg: They weren't outwardly setting us up. They just kept having him over for dinner so he could talk about his four months in Iraq and how he took shrapnel in the ass for America. He'd quote the Bible and they'd point out how great he was. Fun, fun, fun.
That, and the fact that her parents are batshit insane.[/spoil]
And I'm guessing the pen in season 1 was just a red herring, to make us consider Weevil.

Oh, Rob Thomas said in an interview that they were going to explain it, but they ran out of time. It pretty much was a red herring, but there was a letter in there from Weevil that would make it look like he did it.

Well I can't wait for the third season to start... I wish it started 8 weeks ago, so I already had the first mystery to watch...
I hope there will be no more soapish plots in third season...The first season was fresh all way through, so when the thing I already mentioned started to happen I went a little nuts...

I'm so excited for the third season to start!! I hope it does well after Gilmore Girls so the episode order can be increased from 13 to the regular 22 episodes.

its always going to be amazing [quaity wise]
though i'm not too thrilled about the rape as being one of the 8 episode arcs.

It seems like quite a step down from the previous two mysteries, but I have faith in the team and their ability to make an ass whopping story...

I'm still disappointed that Michael Cera was busy, but I think it's going to work out. The reviews for the first two episodes have apparently been amazing. (I've been avoiding reading them, but this is what my friend tells me.) And there's a "director's cut" of a couple of early scenes from the first episode up on the CW website. http://www.cwtv.com/video I think they've managed to get the college thing down pretty good.

Don't know if you ever figured it out, but...
[spoil]The page is supposed to be clues leading you to the name of someone.. and you get Brendan Frye, which was Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character in Brick. So you change the URL to brick.html. Then you get an image that says "THIS ISN'T RIGHT" and the image is titled "wrong-picture.jpg" so you change it to http://www.helpmeveronica.com/clickme/right-picture.jpg and it says "they're all rbsaldcme!" which is they're all scrambeled. [/spoil]

Yeah, that one's done. Now everyone has been stuck trying to decipher the password on this page.

Does Mustard Pancakes have anything to do with it? (The name of the image) It's some kids television show.

Yeah, there are some ideas being tossed around about that. But no one has come up with anything yet. This is the toughest one yet. The last one didn't seem to make much sense, but at least we could figure out the password for it. Quite easily in fact.

[spoil]Probably Charisma Carpenter. Don't they wrap up the whole "what's in the briefcase" mystery in the first episode? It makes sense that it would be her. She's not in the main cast, but she's significant enough to be a major death on the show.
I don't think they would off Logan, Weevil, Wallace, Keith, or Dick Casablancas. I don't know who else that would leave. I don't think Duncan would be killed off. He'll just fade into nowhere, and possibly show up in a future season (I'm optimistic about future seasons).[/spoil]
