Yeah and then a week passes later and they will finally release the trailer with Dead Or Alive. Like being attached with a campy movie like DOA wont dredge up any old memories of Dungeons and Dragons the movie

They dropped the ball by not at least releasing a teaser with Pirates2. Someone mentioned
putting the trailer with a fall TV series premiere. I think this is the best route. Don't bother
putting the trailer in theaters until there is a big film with the same audience. Put the trailer
during the season premiere of a big TV show (this was done with Narnia and Kong last year,
the trailer debuting on TV).
If this film doesn't gross at least 300M worldwide, someone should be fired. That should be
an easy total for Eragon to hit. It really should, based on it's genre, go much higher than that.
It has the potential to gross that much or more just internationally. I'm starting to get worried
though.

Well here it is the Eragon trailer, kind of. There's no audio and it's from some other country.

It's pretty close to what they showed at San Diego Comic Con (I would say less than 5% changed) and was part of
the Eragon Vivendi Universal Booth in Germany.

It's hard to make a judgement on a crappy quality trailer shot from a TV screen, but...
It didn't look awful, but it looked pretty cheap and cheesy. A poor man's LOTR is indeed what it looked like. A very poor man's. I do think that it might be fun, but it looks like a cheesier and campier version of Dragonheart, which doesn't exactly make it a potential hit.

Actually I thought it looks pretty good. The problem with Eragon, unlike any other dragon
movie, is that a huge amount of screen time goes to the dragon and Eragon on screen
at the same time. That can't be easy to do, but because the dragon is on screen so much
(presumably at least), it is very important to make sure it's well done because people will
pick apart the effects.
That said, the dragon effects didn't seem any better or worse than Potter 4, Reign of Fire, or
Dragonheart. But this was a low quality transfer with no sound, so I am more optimistic
than I was before viewing it.

It actually looked pretty good. I'm imagining a T-Rex a la Jurassic Park Roar at the end of the trailer. I hope it's loud enought to give me chills. I miss the good old days when movie theatres didn't care about the condition of your ears at the end of the movie. There was this one theatre (Uptown in Toronto) that got burned down, but it was my favourite theatre. THe sound was so loud that the THX music used to vibrate the seats. Sorry for going offtopic. lol. But I just had a sudden urge of nostalgia.

Well, Gridiron Gang should pull in a decent audience, so it's not a horrible choice.
I hope the trailer is awesome, but my expectations aren't high anymore.

After that trailer, it's hard to say where this will go. I don't see it grossing $200m+ at all, but I think it should still top $100m considering the holiday season.

Heres where I officially throw in the towel for Eragon making 200 million. A weak winter season should still help Eragon make over 100 million unless Fox is truely dumping the movie like they did for KOH

Right now, I am not even sure about $100 million anymore, unless the TV marketing is very strong.

i think that will be strong with lots of tv spots and magazine ads and stuff.
opening weekend-$38-45 million with a total of $125-140 million.
i actually liked the trailer. The dragon looks awesome and so do the action scenes.
Maybe u guys were expecting this to be a LOTR type movie or don't know eragon that much as the true fans. BTW i myself am not a fan of eragon. BUT i love wathcing movies with dragons, dinosaurs, king kong and godzilla.

Fans of the book (of which I am one) will generally either be satisfied or excited after
seeing this trailer. The look of the film, timing, and story laid out in the trailer will
get a good deal of the audience of LOTR and Narnia interested if they haven't read the
books. I don't see this doing as well as any of those 4 films, but I wouldn't rule out
200M yet.
Is it just me, or does Eragon (Speelers) look like a mix of Mark Hamill and Daniel Radcliffe?
The dragon looks good. I'm a bit worried about the line in the trailer that says something
like, "magic flows through the dragon, and through the rider who commands it" The Rider
does not "command" the dragon. It makes me worry they won't give Saphira (the dragon)
voice, which would ruin what makes this story different.
I will definitely see this in the theater.
