at first I seriously couldn't tell who Hurley was. I thought it was a new cast member and after a long ordeal of counting and minusing original, killed, and added characters I figured out ot was him.

One doesn't have to be crazy, clueless and dumb like you to see that the poster sucks!

ya and I bought it!!
WOOHOOO!!!
The box and stuff sin't as crappy as it first seemed when the DVD pics were released.
The bonus features aren't like really eye opening or anything (though I haven't finished watching them). They have this one cool feature though... the one where you go from character to character and see how they're connected. Totally overwhleming to try and go through every connection though.
For some reason I really liked how the disc arts were of a few of the objects or stuff throughout the season and not the faces of the characters.
Apparently the second half of season 3 is gonna bring some big change that nobody will be expecting.... according to Lindelof in one of the features.

I've only been watching episodes so I haven't delved into the features.
The packaging is virtually the same as season 1 except different pictures/color.

I'm looking forward to season 3, especially the airing schedule. I think it will really help ratings and overall enjoyment of the show.

The promo pics from the first episode show Jack flashbacks... is it Jack's episode or Kate's?

Jack is first.. then Locke, and Sun and Jin I believe (that's what Ausiello said I believe).

Just watched the EW special recapping and promoting the cover/show... really entertaining show, got me pumped up for the 3rd season. They pointed out a few things I didn't notice before too, like Kate's mom serving a whole bunch of characters, and the fact that virtually every time a number has been mentioned in the show, it's one of the six. Plane tickets, the amount of years Rousseau has been there, and lots more they showed that I've forgotten.

EW Special?
Is that a show or do you mean the magazine?

There has been a mention that spoilers are going to be tough to come by and that some of the details are inaccurate. Something about the producers not really extending spoiler information as a publicity tool anymore. I think Lost-Media or someone had this article... in the article they confirmed that basically only 3 details were "certain", and I'm assuming it's the Sun/Jin episode and the Eko episode and maybe the titles?
There is a video out there somewhere of an ABC Fall Season Special where:
[spoil]They show Sawyer in a zoo cage, similar to those in old early 1900 zoos, it's completely surrounded by jungle and there appears to be a few levers in the cage and a man in a similar cage across from Sawyer who barely talks to him. There's a button that has a fork and a knife on it, so Sawyer pushes it, it says "WARNING", he backs off and tries it again, same result... guy in the cage says he shouldn't do it. Sawyer pushes the button the third time and some force field or force of wind violently pushes him back into the cage bars.[/spoil]
Episode #1 is a Jack episode now, was incorrectly reported as a Kate episode. And #2 is Locke not Claire, and Spoilerfix is saying the Desmond epsiode might in fact be a Sawyer episode. As much as I love Desmond, I hope it is a Sawyer episode because technically they just did a two hour Desmond episodes five episodes before. Although the episode titles seem accurate.
I'm temporarily popping in and fixing.
Boone fans will be happy (from Spiolerfix), in the Locke episode:
Quote: new 09/14 - Ian Somerhalder who played Boone, the first major characters to buy-it in season one, on the hit series LOST has come back for another go around. Only this time, it's not popping up inexplicably in someone's flashback, as you might guess. Hot off the release of his big screen horror "Pulse", the former LOST star spent a week in Hawaii working on new material for an upcoming episode of LOST which centers on the bushman-who-lost-his-way John Locke. In the episode Locke, who is still reeling from his actions in the cataclysmic season finale, begins to have visions of the young man who died to keep the hatch a secret. Boone leads Locke to a redemption of sorts and sets him off on a "kung fu" like journey to unravel yet another island mystery. Sources say this journey rivals the season one fascination with the hatch and will find John Locke squarely returning to his mysterious mysticism and McGyver-ish ways. Source: BuddyTV

Also (this is not a spoiler so I'm not going to rope it off) the producers have basically said that the first few episodes of Season 3 will go back and forth in time to focus on different stories on the day of the Season Finale (or the day after) similar to how the first three episodes of Season 2 focused on like a 12 hour period since the end of the Season 1 finale.
It's interesting to me that they gave Jin/Sun the third episode... they have the sailboat... I wonder if in this episode they try to escape the island in the sailboat, so we can discover what the situation is with the navigation... maybe they end up following Michael's boat for a bit? Dunno. I'm sure that it will involve the sailboat... the sailboat is a big deal.

Uhhh... I don't get it. Is this like the mega-spoiler we've been waiting for? The explanation? Or does it not apply to the series and is only part of the Lost online game or something?

This is a mega-spoiler.
It basically explains (in part) what's going on, what the numbers are, the potential origin of the others, the button, the disease, the "saving the world", why the others think they are "the good guys", etc.
The ARG started with the commercials that aired during the series, so yeah, I think this video is considered show "canon".

Was this at all intentionally leaked or have we stumbled upon something pretty compromising for the series at least in one aspect.

That is a huge spoiler. The numbers are now revealed and have more to do with the island then initially thought. Wow. I have even more questions now.

It's intentional. It was the response to the ARG which was started when ABC began airing the Hanso Foundation commercials. I'm pretty sure ABC expected it to be promotion for Season 3 and something to keep the fans interested in the summer. I would bet that this winds up as a special feature on Season 3 DVD next year.
