After watching this too many times (my wife owns the DVD) I must say I liked it better upon repeat viewings. My biggest problem with it is that people act so unbelievably in this movie, as they do in most romantic comedies. Kate Hudson is ok and I thought Matthew McCounaghy (sp?) was actually quite good in this. I rate it a B-.

One of the best and more funnier rom-coms. Kate Hudson is really cute here and Matthew M (?) was awesome too. Extremely enjoyable movie. A-

I actually think this was one of the better romcoms I've seen, and it was very cleverly written. Both Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey were both very good in this, and they definitely had the type of chemistry that these films need to have to be a success. It was a perfect vehicle to show the games that men and women play with eachother, and that Celine Dion concert thing was quite cruel, as she manipulated him into thinking that she had Knicks tickets. She also dragged him to a chick flick (Sleepless in Seattle) in hopes of sticking it to him, but it turned out that he was a big fan of it, so she did the next best thing, and got him into a fight. #-o
I did feel that they really did make a connection when they went to stay with his parents for the weekend, so that was well handled. Before then, she was getting on my nerves, too, so I can't imagine how bad she was getting on his. This was definitely an entertaining and well made romantic comedy that is worth seeing.

I don't understand why people love this movie so much. I can think of so many better romantic comedies. WIMBLEDON, LOVE ACTUALLY, FEVER PITCH, NEVER BEEN KISSED. Kate Hudsan was the best thing about this flick, if it wasn't for her, it wouldn't have been very good.
6/10 (C+)

This movie grew on me. I initially gave it a 7/10 (B-), but it's just so damn entertaining and after re-watching it several times my rating has raised to an 8/10 (A-). Kate Hudson is adorable and she has great chemistry with Matthew McConoughey here.

I think I have seen this too many times that it really is making my original grade of an A down to a B. Everytime its on tv my mom watches which is annoying as hell considering we own the movie. It's good romance but nothing to get excited about

We must have 2 threads for this, because I remember posting a mini review on it. I'm watching it right now on USA, and I remember why I liked it so much.

After seeing Failure to Launch, I thought I'd bump this up to write something about it. I haven't seen this movie a few years, but from what I remember... How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days is easily my favorite and the best romantic comedy of the 00s decade, by a leaps and bounds. Going past that, it is one of, if not my absolute, favorite romcoms of all-time. Everything about the movie works so...perfectly. Fantastic comedy, chemistry, a storyline/concept that ties it all together, the atmosphere, supporting roles, the heartfelt moments, the pacing, the ending. I am not usually one to give this genre a grade as high as an A like this gets, but this one breaks the mold. I have to see it again sometime, but for now IMO the movie is pure perfection, that is when it comes to it's highly repeated but ulimately cherished specific genre and style of film.

A. I don't like most romcoms but this one was a nice little gem, very well done. It was helped by M.M. not seeming as slacker and as egotistical as he sometimes can be in other films. This is one of the highpoints of his career where he fit himself into a role rather than just playing himself. Hudson is cuter than her famous mother ever was.

It's not bad, But it aint great either. It's watchable fluff that actually engages once in a while.

I agree. But then that's what the genre is supposed to deliver isn't it? Romantic comedy = watchable fluff.

An awful movie with nothing more then the odd chuckleworthy moment. I really can't understand were the humour is in this abomination.

Just saw this again for the first time in a while and my grade stands... one of my absolute favorite romcoms. This, along with Sabrina, were oversights/forgottens on my top 100 countdown, admittingly.

6/10 (C+) Ha! Funny how much you've grown to love this. I just watched it tonight for the first time since it initially came out on DVD. It's a blast. Kate Hudson is hilarious here. I know it's largely unoriginal, but if you're going to play it by-the-books (and let's face it, there are only so many ways to make a romantic comedy) at least do it well. And this film does. Deservedly a modern rom-com classic. 9/10 (A-)

LMAO it is true. When I saw it as a teen I thought it was so stupid. I've only grown to love it in the past three or four years.

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Very enjoyable film. Funny and romantic with two very attractive and likeable leads. Matthew McConaughey plays a dashing and super cool ad exec, and Kate Hudson plays a How-to column writer for Composure magazine. She is gorgeous, and full of beaming smiles and joy.
I'm enjoying my look back at all of McConaughey's movies.
