Heh, I remember you (and many others) thinking it'd not succeed because it looks generic and doesn't stand out.

Thing is...a generic sports film will always be box-office gold.

Snakes on a Plane declined by 51% for the 4-day portion. How horrible.

63 58 Leonard Cohen I'm Your Man Lions $27,028 -17.6% 38 -10 $711 $1,003,345 - 11

Ok, well, at least Cohen finally hit 1 million over the three day. At one point I was sure this would make 2 million, and was holding out for three. This isn't bad though, I guess.

Half Nelson held very well also. Not Illusionist well, as 6,500 isn't quite as impressive for 36 theatres, but its still a great number for the theatre expansion and its already one month running release. Should have been up closer to 60 theatres by now, imo, as its actually had great pta's and strong reception.

Little Miss Sunshine and The Illusionist are expanding brilliantly.

I guess the studios have been ignoring the "art house" crowd over the summer, and those two movies are reaping the benefits because of it.
