No word on screens for my theater yet, but one place about 20 minutes away from me is getting The Quiet and the AMC Loews Cineplex 20 at Universal CityWalk Orlando (where I'll be this weekend) is getting Idiocracy so I'm happy. :clap2:

I have confirmed that we are cutting one screen of Crank and giving it to Invincible. If Crank has a poor Friday, an interlock may be considered.

Nice, we're getting The Quiet and Trust the Man. Oh, and this is really weird --- the AMC Loews Universal Cineplex 20 has a midnight show scheduled for Idiocracy, but it's not listed as playing at all on Friday. I don't know what's up with that, but I guess it's just stupid Fandango getting my hopes up. :disgust: :(

Why is The Quiet expanding? It has mediocre reviews, no buzz, and didn't even do very well in limited release.

Well, it is Labor Day weekend, and Labor Day weekend is notorious for reissues. Also, it is still getting PTA's over $1000, so, why not?

Yep. Paramount almost always reissues something for Labor Day Weekend. It's also about $200K shy of $23 million this
will get it over that hump. The only other film of theirs similarly close is OVER THE HEDGE to $155 but earning less than
$100 a day per screen isn't really worthwhile

It's a little surprising WB didn't reissue SUPERMAN RETURNS this weekend, but considering it would have taken away
screens from WICKER MAN and BEERFEST its understandable. It also kind of lends credence to the suggestion by
Bryan Singer that they are going to wait until closer to the DVD launch to re-issue it in some capacity.

Regarding presales for this weekend, we've got goose-eggs across the board. I will have final figures tomorrow afternoon. Maybe we will actually sell a ticket to something.

Fox Searchlight has actually been expanding movies that haven't been doing that great. Another example would be Imagine Me & You.

My three surrounding theaters are all thumbs down on a print for Crank - I'm anxious to see the official theater count later. It sure seems like Lionsgate has lost faith in the film.

Post Presale Report - Lexington, KY:
This weekend's presales are as follows:

The Illusionist - 5
Wicker Man - 4
Little Miss Sunshine - 2
Crank - 0
Crossover - 0

Looking back on data from the last two Labor Day weekends (the only years I have available), there is nothing suggesting a breakout for anything.

The Illusionist stands to do very well here, given the early presales and the inquiries I received a week before it even arrived.

Wicker Man has a shot at beating tracking, but we're not talking anything close to a $20M 4-day, IMO.

Little Miss Sunshine continues to do its thing - I'm expecting a solid PTA this weekend, and wouldn't be surprised to see it blow past Crank.

Crank is in trouble. Transporters 2 registered a handful of presales, and even worse, we're sticking this in one of our small screens (a 200 seater). There is talk about a possible interlock of this screen if Friday's number is poor. I suppose we're lucky to be getting a print, as the surrounding theaters aren't getting it at all. Crank could finish dead last this weekend (among openers).

Crossover has no presales, but we weren't expecting any. Though we usually get some for every release, we know this will be a slow movie weekend, and there isn't much awareness for this. Even so, I see this doing modest numbers that are close to tracking. As always, the bomb potential is always there.

All in all, it looks to be a slow weekend with an outside chance one of the above surprising.
