Actually, I swung by her place when I got home since her husband was gone and told her about it.. I said the movie was excellent and she said if it was so excellent how come there were only 3 people in the whole theatre?? I  at that.. That was pretty funny..

Please don't compare Descent with that Cave abomination.

Descent has nothing to do with the Cave...
The only similar they have are the caves.

And monsters who live in the cave. Their plots share striking similarities, really.

In that case every single slasher shares striking similarities. In all of them a masked killer kills people.

And that really is a shame to cause The DESCENT Really was much better..I'm seriously considering ordering the UK Version through BEST BUY instead of waiting however long this will take to come out on DVD..

God will forgive you if you download the U.K. version, BKB. Heh. I did months ago, but I didn't watch it until after I saw the American version.

I'm impressed that you resisted the temptation Zing.

I think watching some thing like this on some rinky dink monitor doesn't give it near the creepy atmosphere that the big screen would.. That's probably the one drawback when this movie comes out is screen size.. This really should be seen on the big screen though..

This movie was amazing! Scared the crap out of me and made me jump a couple of times. The main character was great too. It was like Carrie Meets The Bride.

I give it a strong A. One of the best movies i've seen this year :)

I want to see the UK ending, Matatonio's link to youtube is no longer working. :(

The zoom out is especially haunting as it shows how huge the cave system really is.

Yes it does. With this ending, this movie moves up to an A+. I really enjoyed how much this movie reminded me of Kill Bill (which is one of my top 3 movies). So this may contribute to my very high grade.

Glad you liked it :)

Too bad it'll be getting a sequel which is likely to be a rip-off and watered down.

Any other action/scary movies you want to recommend. So far i've loved the descent and I really liked District 13B

Gladly:

Shutter (scariest stuff I've seen in years)
A Tale of Two Sisters
Dead End

Sophie Scholl (this isn't action or horror, but you should really see this)

You should post your B13 review, maybe even more will be convinced to see it then :D

We shouldn't even acknowledge the sequel. :P

Yes, Sophie Scholl is good.

My eyes hurt from reading this entire thread.

Just an awesome, scary, claustrophobic, well-paced horror film. I saw the international version (which I assume is just a slightly different ending). The movie is just all-around quite amazing.

My only nitpick would be my inability to differentiate all the characters, especially in the dark caves. Which reminds me: anyone to compare The Descent to The Cave will be getting a free bullet in their heads, courtesy of me.

Grade: A

It really is unfortunate that The DESCENT is lumped in with The CAVE and The CAVERN for that matter cause it really is a much superior movie that should NOT get a sequel.. You hear that Hollywood?? NO SEQUEL!!!
