SO .. Eternal Sunshine isn't all its made out to be
I don't know. I had problems with it. I loved the entire concept and even enjoyed the manner in which the story was to progress. The acting .. man. the acting was phenomenal. But I'm shocked that no one felt that the entire 'memory erasing' process and Carrey's quest to save her in some part of his memory was dragged out toooo long only to be met with an anticlimatic end when the procedure was completed.
and that annoyed me. It annoyed me lots. I now feel like hitting someone.

I'm kinda with ya on this one -- here's my original review after seeing it: Quote: This was certainly a cool sci-fi artsy romance movie, and while I did enjoy it, I definitely found it lacking compared to Kaufman's last movie - the absolutely perfect Adaptation. I put it down to the director - Michel Gondry, who made a mess of Human Nature also. I'm waiting for his upcoming Synecdoche with Spike Jonze back at the helm... 4 out of 5.

i seem to have a problem with all of his films. his script always has one thing in its execution i dont like, and that includes Adaptation, an absolutely amazing movie that sort of loses itself at critical moments. Still great .. very great but there is some problem with his scripting

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind was one of the most anticipated films of all time for me and with expectations so high - it had to let me down and it did. Its good - but not great IMO - I was so dissapointed as I wanted to love it as much as alot of you guys do but i didnt.

I was lucky. I had no real expectations for the movie so I loved what I got.
Kaufmann still has to learn how to write an ending thou.

Eternal Sunshine is great. But much of its greatness lies in your own past relationships and how you view them.
I happen to relate to Joel and Clementine.

Oh - thats why I thought I would love it. I had been through a break up with my ex-gf - so I did relate to it, but somehowe it left me wanting more. Perhaps another viewing 2 years on might change things.

Interesting, I thought the same sort of thing.
I loved Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and I do think it is in many ways brilliant. Let the backlash begin, I don't care. I love the movie.
PEACE, Mike.
