A 60% first Monday drop is bad, but Snakes was DOA anyway.

Pirates should be at about $410 mil by the end of August.

It has an outside shot at $420 mil? I don't know, sure...

Bad but expected for SOAP. It still should make 35 million or more.

I think Pirates will come within a million to $420 million. Not sure if it'll pass it, but it'll at least come awfully close.

Crap, crap, crap for Snakes on a Plane. I don't really care if it's "above average" for a creature flick, this is just a really pathetic performance, IMO.

Internet folk have only themselves to blame for not putting their money where their mouth is.

I doubt that's it. I think anyone on the internet who REALLY anticipated it saw it this weekend. It's not really their "fault" - not like they had to go see it three times. It's just that no one else cared.

I think that too many of the internet bloggers thought it was something to be made fun of instead of something to pay for which is, as you know, a shame considering the film is actually good. Maybe a more generic title like Pacific Air Flight 121 would have been better as then New Line would have felt more obligated to give it more of a marketing push.

it's not that bad for Snakes on a Plane. Only Accepted and Step Up held up well, and a decent amount of their money probably can from people sneaking into SoaP. SoaP will depart from theaters fairly quickly, all the better for fans who want to get the dvd asap. Really is performing exactly like Serenity.

I'd like to see New Line release the DVD in a month and a half to two months, all the better to capitalize on whatever buzz it has left as people who were skeptical about seeing it in theatres might be more willing to rent or buy it, especially if it's still relatively fresh in their minds.
