Michelangelo wrote: Well, its wierd how Crash had an 8.4 on imdb long before it was an oscar nominee.
It clearly didn't go out purposely looking for oscar love initially, its release date saw to that. People are coming down way too hard on it here.
Where I'm at, people love Crash way more than Brokeback. But I personally give the latter the mild edge, both are in my top 25.
I am so tiredof being told I come down to hard on this film, my opinion of Crash has not changed since day 1, so really I amnot coming down hard on it. This has always been my opinion, jesus. Its not some new hate, its not some band wagon. I've alwyas thought this was ashit movie, and I am not goign to change mind even other other person in the world disagrees.

I agree with Ripper here. From what I read, nobody here really changed their opinion about Crash that drasitcally just because it won best picture. Ripper, andaroo, Dolce, and loyal have been express their hates toward Crash since day one. They happen to be some of the more active members in the forum, so the voice felt louder, but they have debated about the film with intelligence since the beginning. There are also a lot of others like me, who liked Crash but loved Brokeback, and we still feel the same way and basically expressed our displeasure that it didn't go to a more deserving picture (in our opinion). And some prefer Munich over Crash, and all are legit. Somehow I'm feeling it's Crash's supporters who are going a little overboard with the reactions here, but I can understand that.

A Best Picture winner not being remembered in a month.
Yes, that makes complete sense.

Regarding Shakespeare, how can a movie be the biggest upset ever if it wins 3 Globes, it has 13 nominations, not to mention the SAG and the WGA?
And please, don't mention Revenge of the Sith...

Crash won't be remembered in a month? I'll bet you also said Crash won't be remembered come awards season because it was
released in early May, huh?
Crash was well liked, and in many cases, passionately LOVED, by the majority of people. It will long be remembered in a positive light!

Watched it as well lately for the 3rd time.
Its impact is horribly diminished by repeat viewings. I loved it when I saw it in cinema's but its sledgehammer lack of subtlety becomes glaringly aparent the more times you watch. It doesn't age well.

Sure, a movie that alot of people disliked and thought didnt deserve to win happened to win, but it wont be looked as anything other then that. '
I'll just quote me. Im right, you see anyone screaming masterpiece or classic for this film? It was just a whatever year for the Oscars, it's not a film that stays with people or means much. It happens alot, not just with Crash.

I beg to differ. I have seen it three times as well and the impact is still there, only I see it a bit differently. I did notice the issues many people had with it (caricature characters, unlikely coincidences, little subtlety), but I view the film as a methaphor and methaphors do not usually have a great degree of subtlety, so I am fine with it. After three viewings, I am still sure that I like the film a whole lot.

But how many films does that really happen to? I'd say a spot in IMDB's Top 100 shows that there is a fair share of people who do like it a whole lot. Not that I think it deserves to be there, but it's a fact that many many people like it or love it, masterpiece or not. It should at least stick around for longer than Chicago and A Beautiful Mind...

Or that we sometimes enjoy being spoon fed morality and social commentary without any need for us to stretch our brains.
I'll plead guilty to being like that the first time I saw it.
