An annoying, pointless mess of an action film helped only by the production of Jerry Bruckheimer.

Amen. It's ridiculously over-the-top and doesn't hold up as well as I'd have hoped on repeat viewings, but it's still a helluva good time with a ton of politically incorrect comedy and carnage.

A mess. An incoherant mess of a film. The action was mindless rehash, the comedy was just not as funny, especially since much of it had been used before. However, a few decent scenes, mainly the first car chase, keep the film from being a complete disaster. C-

The first one wasn't good to start with, but this one if just crap. Lame action, too much flashy camera work and not enough suspense or humor (it's only funny if you have the humor level of a eleven year old) (E)

Post Re: Bad Boys II
I watched it again tonight for the first time in probably four years, tonight. I've got to say, it's amazing how much a film can change in four years. Back in '03 I thought it was a great movie. And not just a great action movie, but a great combination of action and comedy. Looking at it again a few years later, I can now tell that this is the "Beverly Hills Cop II" of the series. The first film in each of those series tended to focus on the comedy much more than the violence. Don't get me wrong, both of the originals have plenty of violence in them, but compared to each films counterpart, it's not even close. Bad Boys II is literally a wonderful orgy of violence and in some of the most fucked up ways too. People exploding, corpes falling apart on the road, car chases, gunfights, I mean this film is wall to wall action, and although some of the action pieces are great (the car chase in particular) some of it feels like it gets in the way sometimes. I mean, this is a 145 minute movie, something could've been cut.

I still think the movie is a lot of fun, but nowhere near as good as I thought it once was.

Just because a movie decides it wants to be two hours of shit blowing up, doesn't make it entertaining or a great action film. Actually, I was bored by this. I don't mind some shit blowing up every now and then I don't mind Michael Bay, but this was too much. Definitley his worst.

I really liked the first Bad Boys but this was awful. Noisy, loud, generic and a whole lot of boring. All the blowing up, the humour, the over the top machoism and everything else just made you weary and tired and bored. Poor effort. Finally I see the Michael Bay people trash on about. This was an empty canister.

I haven't seen this in forever (waiting for the Blu-Ray) but I remember loving this movie to death. I was so obsessed with this when it came out, I'm curious to see how it holds up.
