 Exorcist II: The Heretic Exorcist II: The Heretic Quote: Exorcist II: The Heretic is a 1977 American horror film and the sequel to The Exorcist (1973), directed by John Boorman from a screenplay by William Goodhart and starring Linda Blair, Richard Burton, Louise Fletcher, Max von Sydow, James Earl Jones and Kitty Winn. The film is set four years after The Exorcist, and centers on a now 16-year-old Regan MacNeil who is still recovering from her previous demonic possession.
The film was both a critical and commercial failure at the time of its release. Awful. D+

I don't even know what this movie is, it's definitley not a horror. Might be the worst movie ever made, I remember seeing this younger with a big wtf on my face.

I'm watching this right now. Never actually seen the whole thing before.
It's pretty fucking terrible. Linda Blair and Louise Fletcher and Richard Burton sitting in a room, looking at some flashing lights, and falling asleep. What the fuck is this?
Without a doubt, the steepest drop in quality between a film and its sequel. And I haven't even seen the whole thing yet.

I saw this movie on tv when I was about 7 or 8 (?). Saw it on one of those Saturday afternoon movie shows that played on Fox (Channel 32) -- before the station turned into the Fox we know today . I thought it was terrible even then, and my opinion hasn't changed.
I saw the sanitized version of course. However, I seeked out the R-rated version older and it was still very poor.
