 Jersey Girl
Jersey Girl Quote: Jersey Girl is a 2004 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Kevin Smith. It stars Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler, Raquel Castro, George Carlin, Jason Biggs, Jennifer Lopez and Will Smith. At $35 million it was Smith's biggest-budget project to date ($10 million of which was Ben Affleck's salary, $4 million to Jennifer Lopez's salary), but bombed at the box office and received poor reviews. It is also the first film by Smith not to be set in the View Askewniverse or to feature appearances by Jay and Silent Bob.

I really like Kevin Smith. Dogma must be one of the funniest and most original films I have ever seen. Chasing Amy was good too. But this movie was just boring, uninspired and one of last year's worst. Some funny moments and a refreshingly good acting from Liv Tyler saved it from turning into a complete crapfest, though.

I really liked that movie. Ben Affleck gave a good performance and the daughter was cute. It was funny and touching. Good movie. A-

I liked it as well. It was an okay movie. I love the scene where they do the musical number from the play. And I thought the young girl, Raquel Castro I think her name was, looked a lot like J. Lo, and really did remind me of her. But anyway, I'd give it a B.

I refuse to compare it to other Kevin Smith movies. Just on its own, I would give it a B-. Some laughs, nice performance by George Carlin. But, on Kevin Smith standards (and originality), I would have went as low as a D+. Judge for yourself, there.

I liked JERSEY GIRL a lot and I'd recommend it to anyone that likes a good look at life.

I thought this was well done. It is sweet but it also has witty dialouge you would hear in a Smith movie.

Saw it again a month ago and it definitely didn't hold up as well as when I saw it in a theater. B-.

I'll agree... it didn't hold up as well for me either. I liked it when I saw it in the theater (B+ area), but I saw it again recently and it just didn't click as well. One of the very rare times that I misjudged a movie from the start (I rarely change my mind on a flick... I can usually nail my opinion down after the first viewing). For some reason I looked over a lot of the bad acting the first time around, but it really stood out this time.
Anyhow, I'd go with a C+ on it... it still has some decent moments.

Well, I disliked it the first time around, so no plans to ever rewatch it.
