Plot Summary: In 1692, in the Ipswich Colony of Massachusetts, five families with untold power formed a covenant of silence. One family, lusting for more, was banished - their bloodline disappearing without a trace. Until now.
Directed by Renny Harlin and written by J.S. Cardone, "The Covenant" tells the story of the Sons of Ipswich, four young students at the elite Spenser Academy who are bound by their sacred ancestry. As descendants of the original families who settled in Ipswich Colony in the 1600's, the boys have all been born with special powers. When the body of a dead student is discovered after a party, secrets begin to unravel which threaten to break the covenant of silence that has protected their families for hundreds of years.

My Predictions:
I thought that trailer was effective. The marketing should be strong for this. My prediction: $11-14m and a final total in the $30m range.

It's been getting good reactions, and I think that the trailer is full of eye candy that'll work really well in the TV spots. I'm thinking 17/43 if it's R, 21/53 if it's PG-13.

Doubtful, its Renny Harlin and has the Underworld type vibe, I would say its at least over 30 million.

I think it looks like Swimfan numbers. It looks like a good back to school film. So I'm going to say it does 12.5/ 34

I can't believe some of you actually think this is going to be a good movie. It looks absolutely horrible to me. The only people that will be interested in this movie will be in the age range of 12-16.

This is actually my prediction as well. So, instead of copying, I'll just say I agree.
I see this drawing in a very strong amount of teens and young adults (skewing female), especially because of the extensive MySpace campaign (which did wonders for Step Up).

If this does really well (like over $15m), every film from now on will probably have the MySpace link in their trailer. I don't think The Covenant has it in its trailer, but the TV spots are playing it up.

I'm going to start registering MySpace accounts for upcoming teen flicks, and charge studios large amounts of money to get access to the account.

Technically you could do that, though...right?

If a studio wants it, Myspace can cancel cybersquatter pages

Myspace Terms of service allows them to reassign or cancel any accounts they want to for any or no reason unlike say a registered domain name.
That said if it's a rival studio, unless that rival studio pays Myspace, they aren't likely to revoke someone's page.
