I don't think the movie's action sequences were nearly as fun as they should've been. I was bored to tearrs. The 1st was wayyyyyy more fun and way better in my mind.

Jason Statham is most definitely the best actor for serious action flicks out there right now (at least as long as Nic Cage is not doing action flicks anymore). He has all that is needed for roles like this one and unlike Vin Diesel (who has the potential as well), he's better at picking roles. I thought the first Transporter movie was a decent actioner, but ultimately overhyped. This one, however, delivers on most levels. Jason Statham is again his butt-kicking badass self and he has enough charisma and physical appearance to carry the movie.
The fight scenes are very well-choreographed and amazingly entertaining. There is not a single car race that is as exciting as the first one in the first movie, but overall they are still good. The overall action is great and much better than you see it in most "action flicks" nowadays (*cough* xXx *cough*).
What really brought the movie down to me, however, were the extremely dodgy visual effects towards the end of the movie (the plane fight) and the utter lack of logic and realism at times (think the bomb under the car scene). I can bear with some suspense of disbelief in movies, but this one was taking these words to an extreme. Other than that, it was one of the most entertaining movies of the summer and definitely ahead of the first one. I say bring on the third movie, but with a higher budget, please!

I'm almost ashamed to admit how much better this was than I was expecting. I never saw the first, and heard NOTHING but how bad it was (and this is from my friends who though 2F2F was the greatest ever), and I thought this looked terrible. I had absolutely no intentions on seeing it, but somehow I ended up in the theater a couple months ago. And man. It's one of the worst films of the year, but I just found it a lot of crazy, dumb fun. I dunno...I guess it delivers in the action department, and when you have zero or less expectations that can be enough. Still wouldnt give it anything over a D though.

Transporter 1 had way more action/fighting scenes, and was way more fun in my opinion.

Well, I disagree. I think the fights in the first one were a tad more boring and not as well-paced.

I enjoyed the first one a lot, but was really disappointed with T2. I can suspend my belief, but this one entered cartoony territory wayyy too often (the plane crash, the car jump that takes the bomb off the underneath, the car jump from building to building, etc....). While unbelievable, the first one had much better action scenes that didn't venture into bizarro land as often. As for the plot - it was non-existent (as expected). Still, it did have its fun moments and the roll fits Statham very well. C-

Never saw, nor cared to see the original, and this only confirms why. A mess of a film, boring, stupid and inplausible. There are certain laws of physics that can be bent for story telling, this film simply disregards them so obviously its not even funny. The effects are pretty bad, the acting is horrid, and the pacing isn't even that great. Oh yeah and the plot? Wait, was there even a plot? Oh yeah. There was, it was so generic and forgettable it wasn't even worth remembering. It had its moments, but they can't make up for the rest of the film.

Solid entertainment that's fun to watch even in spite of its lack of logic.

I liked the first a lot more actually. But I still believe that one day a really amazing Transporter flick will be made. Perhaps if it looses Besson

D+ I was expecting a dumb fun action film but this was dumber and less fun than I expected. It was basically a cartoon, as Tony said above. The highpoint was two cars crashing head on into each other and him leaping above it as they collide.
But Statham is a charismatic actor, and I'd like to see him in more movies. He needs to pick better scripts.

Too bad you didn't enjoy it Archie.
I think the movie is utterly silly, but the action is as fun as it gets nowadays and Statham is a perfect action hero.

Well I didn't hate it though, at least it went fast ;p Amber Valetta was as good as I've ever seen her, and the french cop was cool. Maybe C- instead of D+, hard to say. It reminded me a little of Knightrider at times with the invincible high tech car.
Yeah Statham is good, I just think he's capable of better stuff. He could be another Arnie, not another Van Damme.

I think the movie reaches its climax of silliness in the scene in which Staham manages to knock the bomb off the bottom of the car...I mean...really, heh.
