I often find myself comparing these two actresses and that for several reasons. Both are excellent actresses that have starred in several highly acclaimed movies, including four BP nominees (Titanic, The Hours, Sense and Sensibility and Finding Neverland).

Each of them are in particular beloved in the online film community I have noticed (especiylly Winslet). Moreover, both have been nominated for an Oscar foor four times already and haven't won yet.

Julianne Moore:

Best Actress (Far From Heaven)
Best Supporting Atcress (The Hours)
Best Actress (The End of the Affair)
Best Supporting Actress (Boogie Nights)


Kate Winslet:

Best Actress (Eternal Sunshine of the spotless Mind)
Best Supporting Actress (Iris)
Best Actress (Titanic)
Best Supporting Actress (Sense and Sensibility)


So, as you can see, patterns are similar.

What I am basically asking is who is your personal favorite of the two and who do you think deserves to win the Oscar more. Moreover, of course, who do you think WILL win the Oscar sooner.


I think that Winslet currently stands a better chance with her upcoming roles in All the Kings Men, Little Children and possibly even The Holiday (let's not forget Diane Keaton in SGG!).

My personal favorite is Winslet simply due to her versatility (this is not to say that I think Moore is not good). Thus, I'd rather see her winning the stature soon.

Winslet. To me, Moore is very overrated. I think she gets points for coming across as classy, which is a nice trait, but if you look beyond that she's just not a very good actress. A good actress would have made a silly movie like The Forgotten watchable and interesting. I can't imagine it being as bad as it was if Winslet was in it.

I also much prefer Winslet's choice of films to make compared to Moore's.

On the other hand, while I respect Winslet a lot more than JM, she seems a little smug these days, I preferred her in her more daring younger years.

Moore is the most over rated actress out there right now. She has a habit of over acting in many roles. Did you see Magnolia and Freedomland? They were basically the same character. She can obviously act, but her over the top antics in some films makes me dislike her. Winslet should have won for Titanic.

Of those two, Winslet is the most overdue. I'm not a big Julianne Moore fan.

Winslet. I'm not a huge Moore fan.

Moore should have won for Far From Heaven. But, Winslet has hers coming from Sense & Sensibility. So by 7 years, game goes to Kate.

Winslet. I also don't love Moore.

Julianne Moore. I loved her since Assasins and I dont care what anyone says here but shes vastly underated and can play any role. The most versatile actress and underated is Jennifer Jason Leigh who has seemed to have disappeared from major movies

I hope Moore gets a nomination for Children of Men because it looks like she's gonna reprise her role from The Big Lebowski, it really reminds me of her role in that movie

I love Julianne Moore and i would love to see her win an Oscar and sadly i really dont see her winning it anytime soon. Kate Winslet is a great actress but im not a fan.

Who's most deserving? Both, but ill go with Winslet since she has the better chance of winning it.
