Probably the worst Jack Gyllenhaal film I've seen

Kind of lame, but the concept is ambitious, and Gylennhall does well.

Bubble Boy is going to be a classic that people will still be watching in 50 years, because the humor is original, subversive, and directed with real style. Ieight times in the theatre and everytime the (admittedly meager) audiences laughed all the way through.
Although I'm not surprised by the low box office $ - of course the flock falls in line behind their media masters that proscribe what is funny and not. This is another one of those movies that people who haven't seen it feel free to bash. Some of the more "informed" comments are from those who have seen the trailer or read the box office report. No one seems open to the idea that there may be an unexpected source of humor out there to enjoy.
Seriously, if you want to see some satire that takes some shots at real targets, has real and engaging characters, and is told in a bold and colourful style (a la Pee Wee's Big Adventure) - try to free your mind and have some bubblicious movie fun!
My favorite comedy of 2001 and one of the most under-rated films of the past decade.
8 out of 5.

 Re: Bubble Boy
Is there another comedy fan out there willing to take a chance and see Bubble Boy and provide us with an honest review?

 Re: Bubble Boy
I've seen it, man this is bad. Jake's first post Darko role is quite an embarrassment. He was smart to stay in indie films until, better scripts and directors gave him a chance again.
I actually think the beginning and last third of the film is watchable, its just a mess in between.
