Post Can we request name changes for usernames?
Just wondering since I seen mods change their names but can regular folks like us get them too or is it too much of a hassle?

Why wouldn't we allow you to?

Don't even bring up the "regular folks" saying. We might be your superiors in power, but, eh, trust me - none of the mods would support bABA denying someone a name change considering his new name. It wouldn't be fair. ;)

Thanks for answering the question, sir. I was very fearful that I may be banned for bringing up the question. My apologies sir if I said something offensive. I know us regular folks are rather rude. How may us low life people go about requesting a name change, Mr Salsbury?

Heh,

PM baba and ask nicely. I tend to frown upon name changes, but if you want one, and he OK's it then its fine by me.

Would you prefer someone just make a new Username and start from scratch? That's not sarcasm btw, it's a real question. :)

I've been thinking of either altering my current name or just making a new one, and wondering which path you see as preferable.

I don't mind name changing, but I don't really like it, either.

I don't think I'm alone in saying this: that was one of the funniest subtle jokes at KJ's so far in its existence.

I liked the token brown dude change. If you do go back to baba, please spice it up again some time in the future, it made me laugh.

I think name changing is fine if it doesn't become a habit. Think lond and hard about what name you want to be, and if you change your mind a couple months down the line, no biggie. If you hassle Token Brown Dude with a pm at the turn of every week wanting to change names, just think about how much extra work he has to do, and how confused everyone will get. But a change or two is perfectly fine. Not everyone can pick such divine and infinately interesting screen names as darth pimp, ahmed johnson, or mike ventrella...

name changes can be annoying for the whole forum if done on frequent basis .. thats why i went with token brown dude cause peopel would know that brown is me. Plus it says site admin so its easier to guess. Its certainly something i wont do every week or so .... prolly change back to baba in a bit and wont touch my username again till bday time ...

It's called flip-flopping.

I agree that it should be done sparingly. What you could do is have like a once every 3 months rule, except in rare judgement-call cases.

Or some variation on that as you see fit.

I don't think it will ever become common. While I'm considering changing mine, I wouldn't keep rotating it or anything. Most of us like the idea of being recognizable.
