 Monster House
Did a search couldn't find a thread on it. Check out these clips and listen to the language http://www.myspace.com/monsterhouse This has a PG rating, I love it. It's the next big animated film after Cars and i've heard good crowd reactions to the trailer as well I got it at around 110 million.
http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/monster_house/
It's got an early 7.0 rating on IMDB as well

I totally agree. And you know what - i think this can even get close to $150m.

I agree. I think this one will do pretty well. It should get good reviews and the marketring is out there in full force. Having Zemeckis behind it can only help as this guy has a golden hand for choosing successful projects, even if he doesn't direct them. It looks fun and it has the advantage of being released BEFORE Barnyard and The Ant Bully. Tracking is good as well.
I think:
Opening weekend - $33 million
Total gross - $112 million

I don't have a read on this one, all I know is I want to see it.

Yep, marketing is excellent and it's the first of the group of CGI films for the rest of the summer. Plus, having Spielberg and Zemeckis's name attached to the trailer can only help.

This film is all over the place and in unchartered territory. On the one hand, you have what is supposed to be a film tracking very well. On the other, you have a 4 month period before where the big 3 cgi animation studios have all released films that will do $150 m +. It will also be the first time of three cg animated films in just three weeks time, which leaves its legs as a big question mark. Opening weekend it will do well, but this year has been getting poorer and poorer legs for even animated films, so it will have a decent, but not spectacular multiplier.

I dont sense HUGE numbers with this one but still good, isnt it tracking pretty low? Most likely will have good legs anyways though
I'd say
OW - 23m
Final - 90m
I agree with BJ. Movie looks boring, the tv spots do NOTHING for me.

Both Variety & Hollywood Reporter gave it a negative review, never a good sign.

dropping prediction under a 4.5 multiplyer, should top out with 85m-95m.

This means nothing, never base a movies performance by critic reviews.

DP, you really need to stay out of CG movies.

I'm not sure when wide audiences of kids have ever flocked to a purposely scary kid's film. Haunted Mansion a few years back did quite below expectations, though it was released after Halloween. I think Monster House's strong crew (though it lacks a strong cast) and story will push it to partial success due to its supposed quality. This just seems like a weird release date for it.
Opening: $19 million
Total: $79 million

Have you guys seen the TV spot alluding to Over the Hedge, Superman Returns, and Pirates of the Caribbean? Kinda funny in a non-funny way.
This looks interesting, but so far not interesting enough to fork out money for a theater ticket... maybe a rental though.

This is a guaranteed hit now that DP07 has predicted it to underperform.

Reminds me of Corpse Bride, one of last year's most overpredicted movies.

The film opens at a crappy time, after a CGI overload, and the film looks too dark and weird. It doesn't appear to be completely mainstream. And Pirates, and even still Cars, are raking in the kids. Perhaps a low to mid-20's opening.
PEACE, Mike.

Thats the worst time to release a kid oriented movie. They're all trick or treating. Thats why all the hard R films come out around them.
I think it looks really fun. 30 million open/ 125 close
