Majority of U.S. support legalization of medicinal marijuana

"The use of medical marijuana applies to many older Americans who may benefit from cannabis," said Ed Dwyer, an editor at AARP The Magazine, which will report on the issue in its March-April issue, scheduled to appear in late January. Among the 1,706 adults age 45 and older who were polled in November, opinions varied along regional and generational lines and among the 30 percent of respondents who said they had smoked marijuana. AARP members represented 37 percent of the respondents. Over all, 72 percent of respondents agreed "adults should be allowed to legally use marijuana for medical purposes if a physician recommends it." Those in the Northeast (79 percent) and West (82 percent) were more receptive to the idea than in the Midwest (67 percent) and Southwest (65 percent). In Southern states, 70 percent agreed with the statement. Seventy-four percent of all those surveyed thought marijuana is addictive. I'm surprised they polled so few people before releasing this study, I hope they explore it more. What I find the most entertaining is that 74% thought it was addictive. I wonder how many of them, if questioned, would say prozac or riddlin was addictive? They're all addictive, so seriously, who really cares what you decide to hook yourself on at the age of 50 you can make decisions for yourself. Its the kids popping anti-depressants or relaxers at 9 that we really have to question.

To be fair, it's not really a studyl. It's just a poll, and a poll of middle-age to senior Americans, not all Americans. It would be really interesting to see how many of those who support it for medical use also support it for recreational use. I'd be willing to bet the number declines dramatically. Personally, I don't understand why marijuana is illegal at all. Not if the people in charge really stand for what they say they stand for.

Basically because I don't see much of a reason why it shouldn't be, It is not worse than alcohol. I have never tried it, neither do I want to, yet I know quote a couple of people who did and it wasn't any worse than alcohol which is allowed. _________________ The greatest thing on earth is to love and to be loved in return!

It would definitely benefit the Economy but The White House is too Hypocritical and Stupid to grasp that.. Like... smuggling. Lol. I don't know, if its legalized, there should be harsher rules on DUIs, I think.... Hmm.

A properly done representatvie sample only needs about 450 people to achieve around 90% accuracy provided the reserachers used the right statistical analysis. As you add more people to the study, you gians in accuracy are statistically small.
