2398 reviews with two hours to go. I think $9m is pretty much the ceiling.
The Variety article mentioned Prada is tracking particularly well with younger females. That would give one reason for appearing on moviefone way early, so I'm increasing my ratio prediction to 140, similar to what The Lake House had, instead of The Stepford Wives' 90.

It's looking at about 8.7m for the day with a 300 ratio.

I'll say $9m for Superman's Thursday as well.
Superman Returns 7295, 55 Friday, +55, B+
The Devil Wears Prada 13, +13, B-

If the THR is to be believed, we had a 3 million preview on Tues. Figure WB overestimated by a mill, we have 17 million for Wednesday. A 9 would be almost a 50% drop (compare that to War of the Worlds). That just doesn't match the WOM to me.
The numbers are very weak today, but this will be a huge bomb if it finishes with 9.

I will refrain from calliing Superman's box office a disappointment until I see the Friday and
Saturday increases. I think a lot of people (you know, people who don't visit movie
websites every day) thought this was opening today. I think there is a chance of a big
increase on Friday from whatever the Thursday gross is.
That said, based on the Wednesday number, and probable 9M on Thursday, I'd predict
a 3 day of about 50M. If that came to pass, then I would say it was a slight disappointment.

I think a thre day of 50 is still too low. If it does 9 mill on Thursday, and then increases 100% on Friday, then decreases about 2% on Saturday due to mediocre WOM and then drops 22% on Sunday, that will still give it 50 mill for the weekend, thaose would be conservative weekend numbers. It will probably increase by about 150% on Friday. So you'll see more like 60 mill for the weekend.

I'm with Baumer. It may not fit nicely into historical patterns, but I can see Superman performing very well this weekend. I still think it has a good shot at $60M. And, like misterglass pointed out, a 45-50% drop is entirely normal for a Thursday, so I really think we need Friday's numbers to be assured of a flop.

That still doesn't mean that I think the film is going to break 200. I don't. It will get slaughtered next weekend against Pirates. Even if this weekend totals about 85-90 mill for the 5 day, it will probably drop more than 55% next weekend for about 25-28 mill. With a decent sized Jily 4th, it will still fall short of 200.

Ive always wondered how do you get these ratios? Do you take ratios from similar movies that you expect it to perform like? And then what do you do with the ratio adn no of reviews to get a gross? Its seems confusing. But prob incredibly simple once explained

Prada doing quite well so far. Wouldn't be surprised to see $20M+ this weekend.
