But, what's your point? That Yahoo, Cinemascore, and Netflix aren't particularly reliable when said "mediocre WOM" flick manages a nearly 10x multiplier, something that's not just unheard of, but basically impossible for a horror flick in wide release.
I already gave you my explaination. Incredible WOM came from part of the audience, but a strong minority didn't like it.

I see it being over 245m after 7 days and 300m after 10. It might reach 400m in 20 days.

There is no way it reaches 400 mill. I see the absolute max as 350.

From the very beginning I have predicted:
Sight unseen, start with a default BO battle with TTT.
If WOM is bad, BO battle with FotR.
If WOM is great, BO battle with RotK.
Based on the RT reviews, I can't join this club. It's not into RotK territory for sure, but WOM won't be terrible so it's more than FotR. I'd guess about $325M - $330M at this point, with frontload OW of about $120. That's respectable for a sequel, especially if it's a sequel to a movie where the WOM generated almost entirely from the shock and awe of the new character on the block. Sparrow ain't new anymore.

I don't know if some of the 400-500 predictions are jokes, but they should be. Let me tell you this:
Return of the King did 380, you think Pirates will beat it? Good luck.

Yes, I do. Spiderman beat ROTK, and so did Shrek 2. Spidey's fanbase is far less religious about their franchise, and Shrek's fanbase is hardly religious at all. Mobilizing the common people results in a bigger gross than a colossal pilgrimage of dorks like us. Democracy: one man, one vote, and nobody cares if LOTR fans love their movies more.

If we are using examples to justify our feelings, then I have a few as well.
Empire Strikes Back
Back To The Future
Beverly Hills Cop
Jaws 2
Temple of Doom
Superman 2
Gremlins 2
MIBII
Jurassic Park.
There are more films that were huge that had declining sequels than not. I expect this to be just as big, just not much bigger.

Even though im in the under $310 club (with $309) - I agree with DP07 about the examples provided. Pirates was more of a surprise so the recent examples dont cut it. However, one may include Spiderman. Still - it made so much money in that it built up its fanbase during its run and not so much afterwards like Terminator, Austin Powers, The Mummy, Bourne Identity, Rush Hour and X-Men. These were all medium to big hits but capped off below $155m. So Pirates will have definate expansion, but will also lose outbecause repeat viewings are not as high as they used to.

Yes, it's hard to jump on a ship as it's heading to the bottom of the ocean.
