Nope.
I have heard there a lot of TV ads but i haven't seen them(I don't watch TV). Other then the boards on the net I would have had no idea it was coming out this weekend. The only poster I have seen is across the street fromt eh Moscone Center at the Metreaon. Zero Billboards, Hell I have seen more posters for a Scanner Darkly than PoTC 2.

It doesn't need to be everyone new about this from about a year ago.

I am not convinced. THE internet Fanboys know about it. The General public may know about it but not 100% knows it is coming out this week.

I believe someone posted a while back that the general interest and first-choice among the audiences were an all-time high. I think. xiayun would know.
Awareness is there. Marketing isn't as extreme as some other films, but it's just enough.

I beleive it was DPo7 and he was relieing on the Yahoo Buzz meters. I don't think there was any actual studio tracking for that.

No, I'm not referring to Yahoo!. It's another form of tracking, notfabio posted about it a while back.

A lot of the big openers Shrek 2, X-men 3 and Rots and Hp4 had a lot of hype but not many tv ads.
I also heard Disney wants to lower hype so it will not become a massive dissapointment. So i think its good for hype to be at matrix reloaded levels.

Yeah but there is something fishy going on. For example, for some reason the theater has only 3 screens for Pirates and a normal blockbuster has 4-5. WHY??

I want to know why this movie is selling out in Denver and not SF. AMC Van Ness is 30% full right now for midnight showings apparantely. Yet elsewhere it is selling like mad? LA and Orlando make sense Disney is like god over there. Oh well I wonder how it is doing in New York?

Disney reported that they wanted to keep Cars in theaters long enough to make $200 million total or something. Kinda stupid, since it'll make it this weekend, but whatever.

I dout that. There will be sell outs(there are always sell outs) but the release is wide enough that it will sustain the demand for the film. Which I project is not as great as you guys seem to think it is.

i don't think it will be able to fill demand for this film at our theater if x-men 3 and hp4 sold out at evenings and nights on 5 screens.
