I don't think I sat through a movie this bad in a long, long time. I wasn't going into UV expecting much, but I thought at the worst I'd at least enjoy seeing Milla in skin tight outfits throught the show. However, in the end that wasn't even worth watching this piece of crap. The action was bad, the story was bad, the FX were bad, the acting was horrible.

I didn't care a lick about the characters, and after awhile every action scene started looking the same... group of men surround Milla, she mows them down in boring fashion while posing a lot, then the scene ends with a group of bodies while she stays frozen in an odd pose for no more reason then to try to look cool.

In between the action she pauses to have a few awkward scenes with a 9 year old where they look like they're going to start making out. It was all just so painful to sit through and I could not wait for it to be over with. The only positive thing I can say about it is that the opening credit sequence was fairly well done.

My grade: F

Waste of time! I bought this because it looked like it may have been interesting judging from the trailer. I was hoping it would have been along the lines of say,,,Equilibrium. My mistake. The whole film looked like it had been made using a 6 high end home PC's. The trailer included all the money shots. The plot disappeared under all the fighting. I'd tell anyone to wait for it to come on HBO....

Grade D

This is a truly bizarre film that has some really great ideas under it's surface. All of the potential is lost with shoddy execution, though. It's all been touched on already - atrocious special effects, acting, writing, etc...

I gave it a D because some of the ideas are interesting, and the opening credits are very well done.

Despite loving Kurt Wimmer's Equilibrium and originally looking forward to this film, I wasn't disappointed when I saw and disliked it because I went in knowing it wouldn't be good, but I still wanted to see what remained from Wimmer's film. All I can say is that I would have loved to see Wimmer's original movie and not this chopped cut that he disowned. You can see some of his work shining through in the exciting opening action scene and the overall ideas of the film, but those are sadly too few and far inbetween.

This film makes Aeon Flux seem like a sci-fi masterpiece. Milla Jovovich usually makes a good action heroine, but she was given crappy material to work here with. Cameron Bright was at his most annoying. Nick Chinlund makes a good, even though completely over-the-top villain. As I said abve, the opening action scene is exciting and exhilarating. The bad thing is that there is not one single good visual effects shot in the entire movie. I know people who can make better effects on their computers at home. The action started out very well and entertaining, but got more and more ridiculous towards the end. I can't say I didn't feel some guilty pleasure watching it.

There were some laughable moments too and moments that just made little sense to me. For instance the scenes preceding Six' "death". The chase scene away from the helicopter *could* have been awesome if the effects hadn't sucked as much as they did. I am sure with a budget around $50-60 million higher, this could have been a flawed, but far more exciting action extravaganza.

There are some good ideas here and some decent action and nice visuals, but overall the story goes nowhere and the acting ranges from crappy to mediocre. The final fight between Daxus and Violet is another example of what could have been a great scene, but wasn't executed well enough. Aeon Flux might have a flawed story as well, but it's far more entertaining, less over the top and has better visuals.

I blame my incredibly forgiving attitude towards this flick on my thick skin in regards to poor special effects. Having watched literally dozen of direct to video creature features, I've seen TRULY awful CGI. See movies like "Megalodon" and a handful of remakes of The Lost World (Half of which star John-Rhys Davies), and then tell me the effects in Ultraviolet are that awful. I never believed they were real, but they didn't take me out of the movie. The movie had heaps of unfufilled potential, but the groovy score and neat, if repetitive and clearly more bloodless then they were meant to be, action scenes. I don't disagree that the dialogue sucked and the acting was wooden but for some reason I was completely entertained and with the movie the whole way through. It just worked for me I guess, in all it's incompetence. B-

Absurd movie.

And yet, a vague sense of enjoyment and entertainment.

Possibly the worst movie I have ever seen.

This pile of filth has no redeeming values.

The action is awful. The acting is, of course, horrendous. The story is a piece of shit. The dialog is nauseating and it looks rather ugly, though the color changing slut outfit is OK.
