Decent but in the long run, nothing really special > C for pretty average.
Even if it had some good points, it had some other bad points which even it out.

And on Sandler, not sure what it was but in the scenes where he was yelling, arguing or laughing > he was either overacting or trying not to laugh. Just seemed very wierd.

If this brilliant concept were in the hands of say... Charlie Kaufman, this could have been an amazing film. Really.
I usually enjoy Sandler, but this is one of his poorer efforts. The comedy was mostly not laugh of loud funny. I quite enjoyed the cigar smoking outside though, where he got the annoying, bratty neighbour kid in trouble. I laughed pretty hard there.
And the drama was mostly sappy and not done well, but a few scenes really got to me. Really. Oh, and I have to commend Sandler for trying the drama. He had a lot of dramatic scenes to work with, and while he isn't a great actor, he sure tried hard.
So, honestly, a mixed bag. Some good, more bad. Comparable to Pink Panther.

I agree with Mike... the concept is there, a better filmmaker would've executed it well. It was funny enough for me, but then it suddenly became this sapfest. I think though, aside from Big Daddy and 50 First Dates, this is one Sandler movie I can watch over and over and probably grow on me.
Oh? And the makeup? The best thing in the movie. They really aged well. Then I see on the credits that it was done by Rick Baker.

well comedy was subpar and a little sloopy however the scenes about family in the end really got to me and made me fell so damn guilty and disgusted about how i treat my family sometimes. It made me really think about myself and my life which is rare in movies.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I felt the same, the subplot regarding the dad and the magic secret.

I liked Click a whole lot more than I thought I would. It was a very enjoyable flick with a wonderful cast - Walken, Beckinsale, Sandler, Winkler, Marge Simpson, and Jennifer Coolidge! What more could I ask for?
I'll go with an A-

I fucking hated this shit. I'm sorry, but the last third of the film is fucking awful, so awful, I couldn't even give this anything higher than F. The editing here is so shocking.

I must have a soft head when it comes to movies, because I loved Click.
Sure, I can tell you there's a couple of dead spots in this film, but it's total charm and honesty easily make up for these. It's another inspirational American movie (I thought the British had this genre all sewn up?!?) that encourages the viewer to get some perspective on their whole life and the overall strategy one chooses to live it by. It's the second one this year after the extraordinary Last Holiday. The "universal remote control" is a nice current device for focusing the story, but the writers don't let it overwhelm the underlying heart.
I've always been a sucker for Adam Sandler, and have rated most of his movies highly. One notable exception was the execrable Big Daddy, which is ironic given that it was Sandler's other attempt at honest sentimentality. Where that one failed, Click succeeds beyond my wildest dreams for it. The supporting players are solid, with Kate Beckinsdale delectably cute as always, and Christopher Walken adding his schtick as always, and with the Fonz & Marge Simpson as Sandler's Mom & Dad - how can you go wrong?!
I'm sorry to hear that it's not working for a lot of people -- I found it to be an utterly delightful charmer, and yet another great entry in this year's parade of great films.
6 out of 5.
I'm pretty much on the same page as you. I loved this film. It had everything in it. I'm about the same age as Sandler, in life and the film. I am going through some of the same things he is in the film. Thankfully my wife hasn't left me and she is not with the Speedo guy, but the whole work, family and parenting thing I can relate to. When life get so complicated and fast? Click just clicked for me. It was consistently funny, in almost every scene, until it got serious and then it choked me up. I got very emotional in the film and it made me want to go home and tell my wife that I love her, which i did. Also, Sandler can be a great actor when he wants to be and this showcased some of his best moments, I too think that PDL is his best performance but this shows that he can act. I simply loved it.
10/10 One of the best of the year so far.

Baumer - I pretty much enoyed it in the same way you bradley did. It touched me more than I expected. It actually shocked me in that way as i was expecting the usual Sandler comedy romp. I totally choked up during the last act because I only recently lost my father to a very sudden heart attack. I almost wanted to walk out - but to the film's credit - its charm kept me there - offering that bit of hope.

It was completely not what I thought it was going to be...I came in thinking 'comedy', I came out thinking 'dramedy'.
Never thought I could be in tears in a adam sandler movie..but I was..when he gave kate beckinsale's character that note, right at the very end.. I kind of lost it..not only mention the fact, that I was already on a emotional turmoil because of sandler's heart attack scene (I too was traumitized by losing my father to a sudden heart attack, while at home)

This film is shocking people, in a good way. Okay I admit it, I almost cried, actually held it back, because if no one was around, I would have. I lost my mom recently to cancer and it really makes you appreciate all that you have. The humour was great but the serious parts were just as effective. A beautiful film.

It seems a few of us have lost parents recently and I guess we all had the same moviegoing experience. At one stage my GF asked if i wanted to leave the theatre - but i shook my head no.
Seems like audiences are now catching onto what a good film it is too.

Ok, I really loved this movie. Let's just say it was the closest I've come to crying in a movie theatre since Return of the King, and I think this actually trumped that one in how close I got, the tear was in my eye. If I was alone, I would've let it spill.
I thought the concept in the movie really worked great, it was highly original and I loved how far they went with it. I was expecting it to borrow big time from Capra through the entire movie, but they didn't all too much surprisingly, only the main theme of realizing how wonderful your life is was there. I actually felt that it was just as similar to A Christmas Carol actually, especially at the end when it showed him old and in the future and all.
Sandler did a fine job I thought, with the humor, and the dramatic parts. His personality brought soul to the piece, and I appreciate him for that. Beckinsale looked gorgeous, and while she didn't do much, she played the part of lovable wife well. The kids performances were also good, and I was surprised at how reserved Walken made himself, he strayed from the same old character he normally does in these movies, very strong performance from him. Also Hasselhoff was surprisingly good, and Coolidge rounding out the supporting cast was solid as always.
But anyways, the fast forwarding through time part in the last half of the movie, was what really made it for me. It's scary to think about how it would feel to miss entire sections of your life like that, to wake up with your parents dead, to see your wife with someone else, all of it felt very sad, yet as a movie amazingly touching to me. I appreciate this as more as a movie than any of the other Happy Madison productions, and it is one of my favorite movies of the year.

Great review. I hate it when people do what I'm about to do, but unfortunately, it has to be said here:
Maybe those of us that like it so much can identify with what Sandler is going through in the film. I can. I have work aspirations. I'd love to be higher up than I am. We all strive for something other than mediocrity and that is what he is going for in this film. He loves his family and wants them to have it all, but there is a price for all of it. My favourite line in the film is when he says to his wife,"It's not like I'm drinking or gambling or out hitting on chicks. I'm working in ass off to give my family things I could never dream of." And eventually it pays off, but at what cost? I, like I mentioned before, did lose my mom recently and it hurts sometimes. I still get emotional about it and seeing this film brought back all kinds of memories and regrets. Was I a good son? Did I spend enough time with her? Did she know how much I loved her? Did I make her proud with my minimal accomplishments? This film touched me and it made me laugh. And in some ways it reminded me of American Beauty. There were similar themes in the film. I guess I don't expect everyone to like it. My brother just thought it was okay and didn';t get affected the same way i did with the losing a parent thing. But it just hit me in all the right places. I really love this film. ( and btw...I held back the tears as well....maybe one day when i watch it by myself with no one around to see the tears, they'll come )

I gave this a 7/10 (B-). It was enjoyable and really sweet, but flawed. The dramatic moments were great, but the comedic scenes felt completely off. I'm really surprised that some are giving it a perfect rating here.

It was OK, you get some good laughs and touching moments but it isnt Sandlers best.
When he was in the future it was kind of all over the place and really dumb. Thats mostly what i didnt like.

Disappointing. The film has a few laughs, but not as many as you would expect. At times it can be a bit touching, but I found the dramatic scenes not working very well with Sandler as a lead. The way he acted in the dramatic scenes just didn't fit at all with what the film was trying to do and say. With different direction the film could have been better. C/C+

Luckily I had been "warned" before hand that the film wasn't as high on comedy as his past films have been (although in my opinion much of his latest faire hasn't been very funny either, but at least for this movie, it was intentional). A bit of the dialogue and gags seemed forced, particularly in the beginning, but not enough to jostle the viewer that much. Once he got the remote, it picked up. Halfway through, the serious overtones started to take over the movie, and by the end, outside of the hospital, I actually *was* in tears . I'm thankful to know I'm not the only one. "Will you still love me in the morning?" "Forever and ever, babe." I wish the charater of Morty could have been built up a bit more, as well as some tweaking to the dialogue. But overall, it was a solid flick, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

Sandler is really going downhill. The movie totally squanders a brilliant premise, and I can only remember one good joke that wasn't already in the previews. Sandler seems to think that adding a mild grunt to his voice makes him seem more serious, when really, it is impossible to fit Sandler-type humor into any kind of serious movie. Sandler is much too goofy and loud/obnoxious to fit this type of humor into a serious role, and the changes from funny to serious become too polar. This movie could only be strictly a comedy, nothing else, and its attempt at drama (although not without a good effort) falls flat. I think Sandler is at the point in his career where he needs to make a few purely serious dramatic movies showing he has acting ability, rather than trying to have the best of both worlds. When he has established himself, he can go back and make a couple purely wacky comedies now and then to satisfy his diehards. For me, nothing has compared to Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore. Big Daddy was ok, Waterboy was actually just as good as the other two, but other than that, the rest are trash, especially the recent 50 First Dates, Longest Yard, Mr. Deeds, and to a lesser extent, the not-so-bad but very disappointing Anger Management.

I liked it. It made me think about life and what you really want. I thought it had some funny parts, and the end was very sad, the girls I was with when I watched this were crying like someone just died. It was a good movie. B+
