Pirates of the Carribean, Batman Begins, and POTC 2 teaser (in front of Narnia). The first two were both midnight showings though and happened to be fore two of the best received films in recent years.

It did have an A at cinemascore which happens to only a couple non-family films each year.

I've been to movies where like a few people start clapping and then the rest of the theater half-heartedly goes along with it, but at the end of The Two Towers it got like a 30 second standing ovation by everyone in a sold out 400 seater.

Have never witnessed clapping at the end of a movie and I doubt I ever will.

I did, once. And it was very annoying. People started clapping during Batman Begins when the train crashed and blew up, and then everyone thought it would be funny to clap at every single fucking thing the rest of the movie.

I meant when I said every single fucking thing. Possibly the most annoying audience ever.

Hmm, definately sweating this now. Even with significant erosion and lackluster WOM (which seems to be the case) - under 200 is probably not likely.

Sorry, I was getting ready to uncork the champaigne with that -10M Wednesday figure from earlier. I panicked. I will hold steadfast in my belief that the WOM could stop it.

How do you know that, after one day of grosses? What if it drops 45% tomorrow and only increases 50% on Friday, and only has a weekend of $50 million?

To me, this is exactly like the Hulk. People will hate this for being too somber and serious instead of good summer fun.
It will fall just as hard as the Hulk. The Hulk.
Hulk.

It'll need to be really, really frontloaded to not pass $200 million total. I think it'll pass the mark.

Sorry to say this but Superman is way more Popular than the Hulk. And IMO The Hulk looked like a CGI Fun fest.
