The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift 765, +96, B- (up from C+)
Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties 242, +33, B-
Nacho Libre 636, +87, B
The Lake House 366, +58, B
Good pace for all. Look like $8m minimum for both Furious and Nacho.

I have not seen a single sellout for any of the new releases anywhere, if hat means anything.

Not sure if it will impact anything but at least in SoCal...

It is like a GAZILLION degrees (up to 105 degrees in some spots) easily the hottest day since last Summer.

Scratch that:
I've seen one Tokyo Drift, Nacho and Lake House sellout apiece.

This shows how smart the studios are. Had Nacho and TFTF3 opened different weekends they both would have opened to more. Regardless - looks like all films are doing good!

Hmmm, if DP's ratio is correct, we might be looking at a $6+ million opening day for Garfield which'd mean a weekend of about $20 million, hmmm... It'll probably be more like $4.5-5 million, though.
TFTF3 looks like a $6.5-7 million opening day to me.
Nacho should be around the same area, maybe a little higher. Around $7-7.5 million.
The Lake House - $5-5.5 million.

I hope you're lowballing the top two Lecter. That would mean IMO around 16-18 mil for Tokyo Drift, and 18-20 mil for Nacho, which is awful for both. Judging by the crowd reports, I can't see them going that low.

That is indeed bad for both if they open that low but probably worse for Nacho because it has more starpower whereas Tokyo Drift was originally going to go direct-to-DVD at one point so its budget can't be very high.
Better than expected for Garfield though.

I think the problem is Nacho and FATF 3 has a great disparcy among states. Here in California I see alot of advertising for Nacho Libre but it mainly has to do with the large spanish population here in the city. I can see why Animosity whose theater is in a different state has Nacho doing badly while Nacho and FATF is playing so well in Anaheim where Scott works at. It could be like how Dukes of Hazzards didnt have any sell outs in the northern states but did well in the South

Ah, MadGez. You and your whole "studios fuck everything up by scheduling wrong". Though I do agree with you completely. I think Nacho should have stayed with its June 2 release.
Im a bit of an anti studio rogue i must say hehe. Just silly decisions that hurt the box office. Yes, June 2 was the perfect release date for Nacho seeing that only one film was released and we have three others this weekend.

Nacho probably would've been hurt by direct competition from Break Up, though.

I think we undervalued Garfield. There is no reason (other than Cars) that it can't open to $20m. Though the original did withstand Harry Potter's 2nd weekend.
One wonders how much better it would have done given a better release date - damn studios

Yeah the Break Up would have been far less of a hinderance than Furious is for Nacho.

I knew I should've gone higher on Garfield this weekend, it's always those damn buzz indicators and tracking that fool me. Thnking about it now, there isn't much reason why it can't breach 15 or 20 mil this weekend.

Garfield won't make $20 million unless it makes closer to $7 million on Friday... the first movie was extremely frontloaded and with schools out, this one is not going to be any less so. I figure a maximum internal mult of 3.0... so if it makes $5 million Friday, it'll make $15 million tops.

Eh, I don't think so. The Break-Up is a comedy and people went to see it for the humor (that what most stated in a poll), just like Nacho. Moreover, it was higher profile. It opened close to $40 million, whiole TFTF3 seems to be lucky to come anywhere near $30 million.

I went back to Wedding Crashers, and Nacho is performing similarly in terms of Y! ratings. Also, the range predicted for WC was 7.2-9.8. With a median of 8.5, and the actual being 10.5, that was off by roughly 25%.
I'm seeing a 10.5-11.5 for Nacho, especially with the strength we saw last night on the West Coast for later shows.

All openers are on front page with Nacho Libre having a photo. Normally 9:30pm PST update will be clogged, and we should see some big increases at 10:30 or 11:30.

What the hell? Tokyo Drift hardly has any written reviews. The ratio is almost 10 to one while it's usually 5 to one for openers like this. X3 was at 4. I thought it would have a high ratio because of the hardcore fanbase, but they must not be posting at yahoo. I think it will be under 150 based on that.
EDIT: Nacho has nearly 8 to 1. Maybe this means there is less clogging this week and the ratios will actually be higher.
