Side note: Believe Boston Legal is going for Comedy Series this year, guys.

And, Chris, I believe Jon Cryer is also Lead Actor for Two and a Half Men.

It is? I thought it switched from comedy back to drama. Or did it switch back to comedy again?

Cryer actually went supporting last minute.[/

How dumb, he and Charlie Sheen literally have equal screen time. Oh, well.

Boston Legal could've switched back to Drama, but last I heard it was Comedy. I'm probably wrong.

It bodes well for him, though. He had no shot in the lead category, but supporting is wide open, and 2.5 Men seem to have luck there, with the two nods last year.

A lot of your predictions seem to be right on the money, Chris. And a lot of these seem to be the general consensus over at The Envelope forums, which has some pretty hardcore experts. (I believe I've seen you there, no?)

Yup, I lurk there and have posted maybe twice. A few of my predictions are hopefuls (Like DH getting cut, and both Ambrose and Griffiths getting in) but most are based on how others there perceived them (Quality, episode submissions, etc.).

In comedy, I think Entourage is the most likely to get booted, with The Office replacing it, but who knows. The new way of voting may shake things up. Hell, for all we know, Lauren Graham may actually get nominated. She sure seems to have a lot of faithful supporters who think she is overlooked, although I've only seen an episode or two of the show.

I personally do think this will be Graham's first year for a nomination. Going out on a limb, I know, but gut instinct. Never fails! (Sometimes it does.)

And you know, I agree about Entourage. I don't know how accessible the show is to first-time viewers: I've tuned into a couple episodes mid-season and on top of not really know what's going on, the humor isn't big like, for instance, Arrested's or Curb's. It is a popular show within the industry, though.

There's no way in hell. The episode she submitted for herself was the season finale. There was not one funny moment in that episode. And especially not one funny moment from her.

Bad choice! Episode was good but wasn't the epitome of funny.

Well, I've been following the voting panels thread over on the Envelope forum, and it looks like Arrested Development, Entourage and Desperate Housewives all made the top ten for comedy. House, Rescue Me and Lost made it for drama. Seems like House is a lock for a nom, but Lost didn't get a good reaction.

House a lock? Please don't let it get in over shows like Lost or Six Feet Under.

Yeah, there are apparently some members of the 'blue ribbon' panels leaking voting info at The Envelope.

There's a lot of speculation. And a lot of it seems really speculative. I'm taking the thread with a grain of salt.

Yeah, shit is piling up at The Envelope. But, and this is not speculation but the report of "EA," an apparent voter, we have the 10 Best Comedy finalists:

Arrested Development
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Desperate Housewives
Entourage
My Name Is Earl
The Office
Scrubs
Two and a Half Men
Weeds
Will & Grace

What's missing? Monk, Gilmore Girls.

The Office has grown on me considerably, I must say, and I immensely enjoyed the "Booze Cruise" episode (which was screened to the voters) when it aired Thursday. My Name Is Earl is the most disappointing show I have ever seen, though. God I hope it doesn't get any nominations.

I'll update if/when more info comes across.

I'm very pleased with the top 10. All the ones I'd love to be in the top 5 are there, so let's just hope Earl or Two and Half Men don't make it. (Since it looks like there's no chance that Will and Grace will.)

Hm, I actually think The Office will get in over Entourage. Was "Booze Cruise" the one with the work party where he got drunk and started doing karaoke? Really funny if it is.

As for drama, here are 5 of the 10:

Big Love
Boston Legal
House
Lost
Rescue Me

With Grey's, 6FU, The Sopranos, 24, and The West Wing waiting in the wings...Please please let 6FU get in. Seriously, if Big Love and Boston Legal can get in...

Also out: Everybody Hates Chris. I know it wouldn't have been a contender, but I actually did think it had a shot at the final 10. Guess not.

I'm a little surprised The Office went for "Booze Cruise," which was an episode I actually remember not loving. I thought "Casino Night" would be the easy pick...

I still don't really get why we're getting this info in waves. How have they already secured places in the final 10 when voting hasn't been tabulated yet for the other five?

I guess they've already decided the top 10, and the voting is for who makes the top 5? That's what I am gathering, since eveyr show that has been screen has made it in.

Apparently there were some sighs and exasperated boos in the panel screening rooms when it was announced that the next show to be screened was Will & Grace.

I don't know if that necessarily means anything.

I didn't think the finale was great. I enjoyed it, but it's really not a strong episode.

The 10 finalists were chosen through classic 'mail' ballots. The 10 finalists in each are what was shown this weekend. This weekend's voting chooses the final five.

Apparently, the announcement that it was up next was met with boos. But it looks like Two and a Half Men and Weeds got great reactions. So it's just a question of what show Two and a Half Men will bump out. (Please don't be The Office.)

I'm curious as to what episode pushed Big Love into the top 10.

The only episode that I would have even suspected was the season finale, and that wasn't even eligible.

Let's hope DH gets knocked out (Any word on its reaction?) and a few other shows make it in, like either Weeds or 2.5 Men.

Here's the breakdown on the five comedies "EA" screened:
Quote:
"Weeds was the show that seemed like it was in
a whole different league than the rest. The crowd loved it.

Two and a Half Men was received very well.

The Office had people laughing a bit, but it still seemed to underachieve.

Scrubs had little reaction, It did not go over well in my screening. It felt very flat.

as for Will & Grace, well enough said. The audience hated it."

Big ewwww on Two and A Half Men, but you know what? Better that than Earl.

I'm especially taking those with a grain of salt.

How could an audience be so into Weeds, a dark comedy that borders on heavy drama at times, especially in the submitted episode, but be totally non-responsive to Scrubs?
