What does an extreme Superman fanboy have to say about Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl's performance?

My predictions for July 8 at BOM:
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DMC- 46.0
SUPERMAN RETURNS- 12.5
Knight: lol Disney is lying about the number. And this is just the estimate.
It will probably go up to $15 million
and Pirates will probably go down to under $40 million.
lol Everybody felt sorry for Disney so they bought tickets to Pirates and really went to SR.
Unfortunately, I will be out of town July 8, so I won't be there when it happens.

Yeah, because both of them are PG-13 movies.
Did he really say that?

No, it's my prediction of what he'll say when it happens.

I'm wondering, is the average moviegoer aware that this film will end in a cliffhanger and continue next year? I think WB made it apparent with Reloaded and Revolutions both being released in the same year, but here, I don't know.
It could hurt the legs a lot.

I'm starting to think this movie could be really frontloaded. The opening will be massive yes, but when you've got a 100 mil+ opener that's a sequel, it's bound to drop hardddddd. Especially in this summer, which has proved it's frontloadedness more than any other. Ice Age 2 got less than 2.9, so unless Pirates 2 has great WOM, I don't see anything above 2.7-2.8. I think there's a good chance that if it opens to 100-110 million, it'll fall short of 300.

Yeah, 'cuz letting the audience know really helped the Matrix sequels. People laughed when "To be concluded" came on-screen opening night at Reloaded (complete with DUN-DUN-DUN!!!!). I can understand why Disney might want to avoid that.

it wil be extremely frontloaded.
teens+cliffhanger ending= inflated openinhg weekend & little repeat vewings.
tis a fact. but when its ow is 130 million it makes no difference.

I don't think the cliffhanger is what hurt Reloaded. By the time they suffered through through two hours of drawn out rave/sex scenes, convoluted dialogue, video-game Neo, a long speech that even a PhD couldn't keep track of, and Keanu Reeves (nuff said), the audience was probably laughing and thinking "yeah right, as if I'm going to show up for this conclusion."
btw, DarkS, who's that in your avatar? He's hot.

I just don't see a film opening to 100 mill over the weekend having a 4 or even a 3.5 multiplier. There will be a rush factor to this film for sure.
