I know this'll only build up to dissapointment, but it sounds somewhat semi-reasonable.
and they call SR fans insane.

Caribbean 2 has a much better shot at $400 million than Superman does.

At that time, I didn't know what my plans were in May, but I did know what my plans were at midnight on May 19.
You both are WIMPS. Within 10 minutes of finishing FotR, there were folks arranging to take days off work two years in advance for RotK.

A $150M opening weekend would require at least one day over Star Wars' $50M, which will not happen.
I remember predicting $200M in 5 days for Spidey 2. Cuz, you know, it was the sequel to a monster in theaters and the fastest-selling DVD at its time. But you know what, in the end it was just an ordinary uberblockbuster; it didn't break records.

DP will be proud.
Personally, I don't see how it could pass $130 million in three days. Sith only made $124 million in its first three days. Granted, one of those was a Thursday, but it had an insane amount of hype. I can't see Pirates 2 doing more than $130 million opening weekend, let alone $150 million.

Because it was Star Wars Episode 3.

no, the quality with 3 n 4 went horribly down. 4 opened bigger then 1 and 2, but had horrible legs due to horrible wom, and that spread tot he 4th.

1. If ROTS was released on a friday... the record would be over $120 mil...
2. It's friday would've been DAMN close to $60 mil... at least.
3. Pirates can get $50 mil EASY opening day. It WILL NOT drop on Saturday. That's $100 mil in 2 days. $140 mil weekend is a gaurantee.

X-3 was a fan driven movie, though, B.O. wise.

Every movie is fan driven... for the most part. Pirates created fans. And it will open huge.

X-3 has a much bigger dedicated fanbase but I'm not arguing against the case of Pirates. Just saying that the reason why X-3 opened that big was because the dedicated fanbase loved the first 2 movies.

I don't think Pirates has a fanbase as "intense" as X-Men. A fanbase that will rush out on opening day. I actually think PotC2 will increase on its Saturday, but I really don't think it'll get to $50M on Friday. Maybe $45M but I really doubt that as well. I wouldn't be surprised with a sub-$40M Friday.

And not to mention, a bigger demographic appeal. Shrek 2 had a big teen appeal, I don't think.
