Bump
The trailer reaction was bad, so IMO this thread is looking as strong as ever.
I want me some new members.

I am more sure than ever of this club. The reaction to the trailer cemented my stance.
I'll go even further and say less than $180 million.

I know you have Lecter.
As for me, I'm borderline. I'll have to wait to see how buzz is a week or two before release.

It will pass 200 million. Unless something goes wrong, this will make over 250, imo.

I kind of agree that it could open in the 60-65 range, but I think there's plenty of room for it to survive in it's 2nd weekend. That 60+ drop is nearing Hulk levels and I don't see that happening with this pic. I also think it might fall short of 200 but could just as easily squeak past it.

I know I'm late, but I want in.
If it wasn't for you folks at KJ, I wouldn't even know there was a Superman movie coming out.
This has weak star power, no built-up demand, no visibility, and monster competition. Unless there's some massive WOM and a good script hiding in there somewhere (unlikely), this will barely break $200M, if at all. ($210M likely).

But why will it pass 250? Where is the buzz? Since when did Superman, a franchise that has been dead for 20 years, all of a sudden have such a high demand. Premiere predicted 400 mill for Superman, they are out to lunch. We all knew of the buzz for DVC and X3, they were omnipotent. There is nothing for this film.
I join this club with pleasure.
Open- 55 mill
Close- 185

Excellent, I expect that by the release there'll be almost everyone sane in this club. It's an easy decision.

You know, I've yet to get one good reason from one of the Superman fanatics why SR will do much better than BB. So, excel, Magnus, revolutions, give me something...

At this point trixster, all we can say is that we agree to disagree cause after all this debating, none of us have changed our stance. All we can do is wait for July 1st.
I guess so.
And my one good reason? Pirates of the Caribbean 2. It will kill Superman Returns in it's second week. Batman Begins didn't have anything in its second weekend.

This will not beat Batman Begins. It may open higher, but BB word of mouth was superb.

Since when? Don't get me wrong, I see this grossing more than $200 million. But how does July 4th and Superman add up to $200 million?
But...
Superman + July 4th Weekend + Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest = ?
