X-Men: The Last Stand vs. The Matrix Reloaded vs. Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban
[table][row]Days[col]X-Men 3[col]% Change[col]Total Gross[col]The Matrix Reloaded[col]% Change[col]Total Gross[col]Harry Potter 3[col]% Change[col]Total Gross[row]Day 1[col]$44,100,000[col]NEW[col]$44,100,000[col]$42,508,303[col]NEW[col]$42,508,303[col]$38,268,295[col]NEW[col]$38,268,295[/table]
I think these two are the most fitting ones to track X3 against. It should finish with around $270-295 million.

Any early guesses for the total gross?

Assuming it makes $140 million 4-day, I see a total of $290 million, with an excellent shot at $300 million, considering the competition is weak throughout June.

DAT did 2.16 times its 4day weekend. I'm going to give Xmen 3 a 2.00, but its FAR too early to tell because these numbers are just too huge. From a $138 m 4day weekend, I'd peg it at $276 m or so. But the lack of competition for three weeks (Break up and Omen will not hurt this film too much next week, nor will Cars the following week), Xmen 3 has absolutely huge potential to go past $300 m. Another good comparison is Austin Powers 3, which went up alot over Austin Powers 2 as well, but had legs customary to today's times. If it followed Austin, it would do $320 m.
So I'm going to peg Xmen 3 at this point at $275-$320 m or so.

$300.9M
It'll be close, but it should make it.

Thats just fantastic. I think will have a better idea of it's total when Saturday numbers come in, but yeah it should be above 270m unless it's extremeley frontloaded. Theres a good chance it drops like a rock.

Xmen 2 would adjust to $235 m now, so I think $250 m + is a 99% lock, as I see more people seeing this, considering Xmen 3 doesn't have to deal with the Matrix reloaded in its 3rd week, which X-2 did.

True, but even in that case, it is guaranteed to make $250 million at the very least.
I mean, it will stand at $200+ million after ten days.

Hey, I thought this I go quite in depth into Xmen 3's Friday performance and long term performance, I'd mention it here.

For those that don't want to read all of it, I see:
Xmen 3: $115 m/$141.5 m/$283-325 m

I'm in shock that X3 had a better opening day and PTA than The Matrix Reloaded, Spider-Man, Harry Potter, and others. It's just so unexpected.

Do you watch TV when a Superman Returns commercial is not expected to come on?

Well, it simply goes on to prove that the theatre count doesn't matter. Ya know, if it had 4,000 theatres, the opening day number would still be pretty much the same, with a lower PTA.

Sith, X3 (soon to be), Spider-Man...
The top three opening weekends of all-time all opened with under 3,700 theaters. So, yeah, it really isn't a big deal if it does get less than 4,000 theaters. Once you hit 3,500, it's saturated enough it's not hard to find.

Well, I am pretty sure Spidey III will open in 4,200+ next year because it won't have anything competing for theatres in its opening weekend. Also prepare to see it getting 7-8 screens at several theatres.

Spiderman 3 is going to break the newly created POTC2 record...
Although POTC3 won't rebreak it...
Spiderman 3 may just have 3 days over 50 mil...
X3 is a monster!

Started tracking behind The Matrix Reloaded already. I still think that $260+ million is well within reach.
