You misunderstood. You think its the scheduling move that did Alias in. Oh no, it was the show. Fans and nonfans alike will follow 24 to just about any night, hence Audiences Love 24.

I actually don't watch 24 or Alias, though I might try 24 next year.
For the record, I thought Alias was more original from the episodes I saw. 24 was terribly bleh and boring.

If you watch 24 next year, may I suggest for you to at least watch season 4 either on A&E this summer or on DVD. It will tie up a lot of loose ends for you.

I saw the first... 5 episodes of S4. I really wanted to catch onto it, but I couldn't.

Not that you were able to keep your audience around when it was on Sundays for the first three years anyway.

Uhh, 24 was outrated by Alias in its first two years, and year four was neck in neck.
I could also argue that 24 wouldnt have ever found its audience if FOX hadn't whoored it like it was the saviour of television But I can see another flamewar starting there and I just dont have the energy.

Buffy set the bar too high for ALIAS. But I really am running out of good shows to watch.

I only occasionally watch Alias, and had never watched 24 before this year.
24 Season 5 > every other season of television on air this past year.

Dr Malcom wrote: I am an Alias fan, and i have no plans to ever watch 24. I tried S2 (or 3?), but it was just not interesting to me at all and i did not find jack bauer to be a solid lead. The supporting players were all rather "meh" as well, but i was comparing them to Alias'. It wasn't intentional or anything, i was just watching and thinking "okay, she's like this show's Marshall. Only Marshall i way better." Plus, Alias' Jack was always more fascinating to me, not to mention Victor Garber is a better actor than Keifer "damn it" Sutherland.
Jack was the reason I watched Alisa, Victor Garber is a god, Jack was toally the best character.
That said, I'd say President Plamer is the most like Jack on Alias.

Just because a network whores out a show, doesn't mean viewers are obligated to watch.
But, that's only going to get me into a discussion on viewers watching quality shows, and that just doesn't work in my favor when I look at the top 15 rated shows.
And change back to Felicity Titwank. Much hotter.

My name was changed by the admins when i admitted Titwank was all a performance show.
I've decided to try and watch Veronica Mars. I like a female protagonist in my shows, and it seems to have a similar kind of vibe going on. Can anyone give me the basic premise to get the party started?

Well, Veronica is a PI, not a spy, but she does sometimes wear wigs.

And I shall end it with the season averages found in my Entewrtainment Weekly collection:
Season 1:
24 - 8.6M
Alias - 9.7M
Season 2:
24 - 11.7M
Alias - 9M
Season 3:
24 - 10.3M
Alias - 8.2M
Season 4:
24 - 11.9M
Alias - 10.4M
24 > Alias 3 out of 4.
And as X pointed out, pimping a show to hell won't keep viewers around. How come viewers didn't feel the need to stick around for say, Invasion even though ABC pimped the hell out of that?

"24:day in india"
"24 meets James Bond"
are all the works till the end of the decade

Because Invasion is a terrible show and 24 is not?
By the way, I'm not sure about this but it looks like EW messed up alias' Season 2 average and 24s Season 4 average. How many of those seasons had American Idol fueling them?

Seasons 2 & 3. S4 aired nonstop after premiering after a football game. As for Alias, the best I can come up with is that the averages probably include repeats.

Oh well, advantage 24 then. I always thought that shows like this should be aired in blocks like 24 did.
Ill watch the first season of veronica mars soon. It airs on the most obscure network here. Im better downloading it or renting DVDs.

Please do. It's obviously not the action-packed series that Alias is, but it's a great show.
