Good improvement for Hedge. It went from a 3.34 Fri-weekend multiplier with estimates, to a 3.57 with actuals. That is a huge difference! That is higher than Nemo's 3.48, but under Shrek 1's 3.66. It's still great news regardless. It must have been due to my seeing it on Sunday.

Is Silent Hill the first movie to finish with under 50 after opening with more than 20?

God, movies have no legs anymore.

When a Stranger Calls.

Ah. Both lame horror flicks.

I see a trend.

Horror movies have never been known for legs. It's nothing new.

As shown by the Google trends, Canada really was a huge push for Da Vinci's opening weekend. Also, by a regional change from last weekend, Canada's box office went up 109 %, while the other regions went up 70% at most. We should get a very nice Monday figure for it.

Yeah this weekend is covered, but how about June 2nd, when only The Break-Up opens? Best case scenario it explodes with maybe 40 million, but worst case could be closer to 20 million.

I agree. Im a little bit concerned with the fact only The Break Up is opening that weekend. If it dissapoints it brings down the box office with it.

Last year the Sith/Mad/Yard combo made $79 combined and the new releases made $33m. Thats $112m there.

This year we could have about $75-$80m from the holdovers (X3,DVC and OTH) and would need atleast $40m from Break Up. Its almost certain 06 will fall behind that weekend, but it just didnt need to. Hollywood always puts out a glut of films when they shouldnt (ie Sept/Oct) but this weekend was ripe for another release.

However, the Cars weekend should outpace last year by about $15-20m.

I actually think Snakes on a Plane really should have been released that weekend actually. I'm not convinced hype will be as big by August as it is right now (not to mention it'd be a whole lot bigger with a trailer released in theaters and regular TV marketing). The Break-Up and it could've easily both broken 30 million on their own, and although it would have hurted X3's legs, they're not going to be very good anyways.
