Sony is the best marketers by a long shot. They get demographic targeting more than anyone else, and their ads campaigns are always well polished and targeted.

Yet, Stealth, xXx: State of the Union, Legend of Zorro, and I'd argue they limited Underworld: Evolution's opening as well.

Um, i think the reason why STEALTH, XXX, ZORRO on their own account, I just couldn't believe they were greenlighted. UNDERWORLD 2 opening is great but not spectacular, but considering the 1st wasn't exactly the best movie.

The first three though could at least have done a bit better. 20m openings, even if still making them unsuccessful, could have been achieved IMO.

As for Underworld, I only have to say that it had 63m in DVD sales. Whatever you think of it, it built a fanbase. The "Single, white female" commercials they were running the final week were a bad idea.

I can't wait for Poseidon to crush you all. Everyone I know is talking about this film. They all say, yea Kurt Russel hasnt done anything in years (Hurts me that I know Miracle, Sky High, and Dreamer all did well) Everyone said even my parents want to go, and that is a tough one to get my dad to the movies.

Yes, WB does underperform marketing wise, but I'm sure there's more to the Village's underwhelming promotion. Disney wouldn't just cut off a link like M. Night considering he's given them 2 of their 4 highest grossing live action films ever (POTC 1, and Narnia being the others) , unless there were some serious issues that needed to be dealt with. I assume part of it has to do with the fact that they don't want to make the post Village film, and also based on the storyline of Lady In The Water, it might be hardpressed to be successful. Alot of people will go in expecting a completely different movie, which is what went wrong with the Village...

You said a similar speech before Firewall released.

Poseidon sure crushed.

One thing I gotta give to WB is that it seems they give the talent room to work, even if it means big $$$ spent. Supposedly the next Batman will be darker then the first and WB is totally fine with it, they just want Nolan and crew to do what they have to do to make it a great movie and true to the source.
