Another screen was added for Over the Hedge for today. This and TDVC make up 60% of the screens at my ten-screen theater. Heh. I'm just shocked.

Once X3 comes out next weekend, X3, Da Vinci and Over the Hedge will probably make up 75% of all screens at your theatre, heh.

May 19 7:00 PM About a 200 seat theater 95% Full

Click - good reaction (Sandler is very popular in my area)
Cars - some laughs mostly at Larry the Cable Guy (he is also very popular in my area)
Lake House - nothing
World Trade Center - a few "Why would they make a movie about this"
James Bond - nothing
Miami Vice - nothing

Overal B+

I don't agree with the critics at all on this. I found it very interesting especially the second half when Teabing comes in it got very fun at that part. I have not read the book but I did see one of the twists coming but not the one at the very end. I'm guuna have to see this again because the guy in front of me his head blocked half the screen from me and a girl behind me wouldn't stop talking out loud during the first half of the film. I think the crowd was really into it they laughed and jumped at the right parts and I could tell there interset really peaked in the second half. Also the crowd was made up by mostly Adults and young adults with a few groups of teenagers as well.

liessee!!! Welcome to the boards.

Thank you very much

$85 million is decent and better than expected... I think $90-100 million would have been huge. Anything under $70 million would have been disappointing.

watching it with ten people today. The theater has been busy all day. Expect strong sat business. Also don't expect a massive dive on Sunday either.

The Da Vinci Code
11:05 a.m. 90-seater: 80% full

Trailers:

Casino Royale (whispers)
Click (nothing)
Cars (nothing)
The Omen (whispers)
Miami Vice (nothing)
Jet Li's Fearless (nothing)
Lady in the Water (nothing)

Film:

Couldn't get a read on the crowd. They laughed appropriately -- basically as McKellan's jokes -- but there was no applause or anything as the lights came up.

When you have high expectations, and it surpasses them even by a little, its huge.

For instnace: HP4 expectations were around 90m-95m for most. It surpassed them and got 102m. It was huge.

Expectations for DVC(i'm talking about in general, not just on this site) was around 70m-75m. Its looking to get around 85m. Its huge.

Then again, I guess anything is huge after Mission Impossible and Poseidon.... hope we're on a better track for the summer now.

That is pretty insane for a 11 AM show. WOW

Especially considering I was at the exact same theatre as Dark Shape at roughly the same time and Over The Hedge had 16 or so people in their theatre.

Da Vinci may not drop today.

I don't see it could drop today. It will get more business during the day and the sold out shows at night should stay consistent. I think it increaes by 6-10% today.

As I said before, I simply don't see the logic in predicting a decrease for this movie today.

I think the low end should be a hold, and the high end a 15% increase!

I should point out it's not that huge. A few years ago, with Freddy Vs. Jason of all movies, an 11 a.m. show in a 90-theater had people sitting in the aisles. I checked in to see the crowd for the 1:45 p.m. Da Vinci as well, and it looked maybe 80% full in a 150-seater.

And Loyal, it wasn't fair that your Over the Hedge was in a 500-seater while I was in the cramped room.

It was odd to be in such a large and empty theatre for a Sat matinee.

I caught Poseidon immediately after Over The Hedge and it seemed to have more people in it.

I seriously didn't even look at my ticket and started for the four main auditoriums, only see my Da Vinci was all the way down the hall. I just had a moment of, "Huh?"

I'll be there Thursday night for X3, I'm sure they'll have it in the big theatre.

I'd better grab my X-Men ticket. Midnight showings tend to sell out. Episode III last year sold out 10 auditoriums.

I doubt it. Has Fox ever done that? I'm a bit angrier that there's no advance screenings. Fox and Universal just won't do them in Omaha.

I checked Fandango twice last night for sell-outs. It was INSANE. It sold out literally everywhere pretty much, except for the 8-screen theater in my small town (a lot of country folk live here AND it was Prom. Maybe that's why it didn't sell out). Here are the sell-outs:

My area (South-central PA)-

Cinemark Tinseltown 16-Erie- 6:45, 7:05, 7:20, 9:55 I 10:15 I 10:30

Carmike 16- Allentown, PA- 1:30, 4:25, 5:50, 7:00
