Shit.
Will POSEIDON reach $20M? Damn, i was hoping $30M.
JUST MY LUCK will struggle to $7M, becoming LOHAN's biggest flop.

Lohan was all buzz, and no real starpower really. Her Disney films were going to do well anyway. Mean Girls did well because of the script and the "boob" talk on Lohan, but as Herbie, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, and Just My Luck show, people never really cared about her. Herbie only got to $66 m because it was a Disney movie.
No surprise whatsoever on Poseidon, I said in January that it wasn't even a lock for $75 m, let alone $100 m, to no avail. But it wasn't really until MI3's dismal opening that people finally changed their minds and realized that not all disaster films automatically mean $50 m + openings...and a cast of B and C-list stars didn't help either. $160 m down the drain.

Mission: Impossible III will drop under 50% this weekend. Poseidon should make around $20-21 million for the weekend, which is bad, but not as bad as the $15 million predictions yesterday.
Just My Luck did awful.

Poseidon shouldnt be frontloaded, so 21-23 is much more reasonable.

Good hold by MI3, but with it likely not making it into the top 10 for the year from a $140-150 m total, and with MI1 and MI2 adjusting to $260 m, and $270 m, it isn't all that impressive. But it would be good to get another $150 m movie this year though...

Im surprised how badly JML has performed, I was expecting a $50-$60m total for it.
Poseidon as expected. $21-22m would be decent.
MI3 should hopefully stay on top. Just saw it tonight and it deserves much much more - great action pic.

About what I was expecting for Poseidon (i.e. a kind of disappointing number that makes this an enormously expensive box office failure).
Pretty decent drop for MI-3. Maybe it'll have decent-to-nice drops from here on out.
Awful numbers for Just My Luck and Goal!

Hopefully POSEIDON can become a hit internationally, and somehow manage a total over $150M.

Why are people saying 21 mil is decent for Poseidon?
Its not good at all, and on top of that its going to sink down the charts in upcoming weeks.
Good for MI3.

SBD's numbers are out. No real changes. Good holds for An American Haunting, United 93 and RV.

Why did American Haunting fall less than 40%???
Just My Luck opened to $800,000 less than Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, wich made $9.3M/$29.3M.
Lohan needs Bobby, Chapter 27 and Prairie Home Companion to be hits.

Well you can give it to marketing, about two months ago, it was destined to be a behemouth. Very bad marketing campaign continued, very big shame, the movie is actually very fun and would have been a good kickoff to the summer.
Maybe it can pull a 70 domestic.

About what was expected for Poseidon.
at JML. Lohan may have turned herself into box office poison with her off-screen behavior. Serves her right. Not helping matters is that the film itself stinks and will likely have poor WOM. Just look at the Yahoo grade.
Stick It and An American Haunting held better than expected.

Goal will be the one to actually screw me up a bit for the derby, but then again, I'm happy I played it safe. In this case, I still get about 50% for my prediction, and the derby average still sucks, so a lot of people will get 0%'s from overpredicting ($3.6 million derby average, Goal! will make under $2 million for the weekend). Goal! could be very frontloaded in the weekend multiplier, since it's a dedicated fanbase type film, with soccer buffs rushing out to see it, so here's hoping that is true.
Just My Luck also hurts me obviously, but I went on the lower end than almost everyone.
Poseidon will make $21-22 million for the weekend, so that's good for my $23 million prediction.
PEACE, Mike.

Doubtful. With all the competition ahead and no sign of above-average WOM, a multiplier over 3x doesn't seem likely at all. At most, I can see $60 million total.
Poseidon is this year's Kingdom of Heaven; big-budgeted film (KOH's $130m vs. Poseidon's $150m), acclaimed director (Scott vs. Petersen), May release date, and a lower-than-expected opening weekend (KOH's $19.7m vs. Poseidon's $21m or so).
