This film will top out at about 155mill. This will not get the christian $$$, no devout christian is going to want to spend money on a film about how the church kept secret jesus having kids with mary magdalena, remember the last film that even hinted at that bombed at the b.o. oh, and the book is very anti-catholic, that is for sure.

I know of several hardcore christians who have epxressed a lot of interest in this movie, because they know exactly what they're getting: FICTION! This isn't an attack at your beliefs, it's a question posed by research.

At that, I think 150 is the minimum, and the movie will top out around 220.

English Catholic group opposes Da Vinci film boycott

A group of prominent English Roman Catholics is opposing a Vatican call to boycott the film "The Da Vinci Code," saying the movie's release is not a threat but a chance to explain their faith, their spokesman said on Thursday.

A top official close to Pope Benedict has blasted Dan Brown's best-selling book as full of anti-Christian lies and urged Catholics to boycott the new film that is based on it.

But Austin Ivereigh, press secretary for Britain's top Catholic prelate Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, said the English group would propose a different approach in a statement expected shortly.

The signatories include monks, nuns, theologians and members of the Opus Dei group, which is pilloried in the book. Murphy-O'Connor, Archbishop of Westminster, is not a signatory.

"We are not calling for boycotts or protests. Our view is that it is up to people to decide if they want to see the film," Ivereigh told Reuters. But he said the film-makers should have made clear the plot is fiction, not fact.

Brown's book, which has sold over 40 million copies, raises the possibility that Jesus had a child by Mary Magdalene, that she fled to France and that Christ's bloodline survives to this day.

"The danger is that by appearing threatened we give the book and the film the theological credence it doesn't have," Ivereigh said.

Does membership in Baba's DaVinci Code Under 150 Club, give you automatic membership rights in BKB's DaVinci Code Bottoming Out Club - or do you have to apply to each separately?

as this is the coolest of all the clubs in existance, eligibility of membership to other clubs is not only unneccessary but irrelevant.

I could see this movie passing 150 even if marketing dropped of the face of the earth starting today. The buzz is too large to be denied. If the film lives up to the hype which is should considering the talent, word of mouth would bring it past 150 even with a 30-40 mill opening.

Nah, it's a lock to make over $150 million.

It won't reach $300 million either.

I'm telling you it WILL! This will be the biggest movie of 2006 by a large margin.

yea .. different experiences i guess. absolutely no one has even mentioned it to me about the film coming out. when people talk to me about the book, and i tell them, i'll just wait for the movie next month, they just dismiss it ..

That's because you live in Montreal Baba, unless it is the Montreal Canadians, Montrealers are apathetic towards everything?

Now if it said, "DaVinci Code starring Patrick Roy and Bob Gainey," different story.

I'll tell you this as well. The world is screaming for this film. This is about as anti-bible and anti- Catholic as you can get. And there are a lot of people in this world that don't like organized religion, namely the Catholic churhc and the power that it wields. The DVC is really the first film of its kind. The kind of film that has the Catholic church not only demanding that the film be pulled, but they are doing their spin doctoring by putting otu these ostenibly non-partisan specials on TV that denounce the DVC as poppycock. This has done nothing but given the film free publicity. With so much apathy and even moreso, so much anger towards religion, this film will have a built in audience in teh same way that SW or LOTR does. People will come out in droves to see the film and it will have great legs also.

OW 70 mill ( only because of the running time)
Total- 275
650 WW

FACT 1: DVC is getting a luke warm response from its Cannes Screening
FACT 2: Over The Hedge is one of the cutest films ever! And if my opinion is not quantitative, an entire crowd of theater owners in las vegas a month and from what i heard yesterday, another in New York support my claim

FACT 3: DVC is the type of film that skews in the teen, youth and older audience and as we all know, the older audience, as much as they enjoy watching films do not feel the need to rush! Amongst those who haven't read Da Vinci Code, i see them first checking out OTH before checking out DVC.
FACT 4: OTH is a family film that skews in families (kids and adults), as well as teens and youths. Kiddies will catch the flick and parents will take them. Parents, like i said before, are willing to wait to watch a flick or smart enough to watch both on the same weekend. Youths and adults, as mentioned before, will watch da vinci over OTH if they're not fans of animated flicks, consider animation for kids or have read the book.

Fact 5: I'm bABA and all must agree with me
Fact 6: You're magnus and consider the marketing for superman to be amazing.

QED

Over the Hedge is bringing down the house.

Fact 1: Reviews don't hurt films opening, espically when they are this huge

Fact 2: OTH looks like just a better version of Mad

Fact 5: No

Fact 6: I don't think its amazing. I just think it is more effective than other think it is

Didn't bother reading fact 3 or 4

Umm .... reviews actually make some impact when a film is a drama and is considered to blow people away/ or is considered to be a critial darling, which is what everyone was making it out to be. till the first luke warn review came out, no one even acknowledged the fact that the movie may be ""gasp"" just okay.
