It wont make even half of what TPOTC did(185mill).The film that will knock TPOTC out of the top 10 is superman returns.

No film released this year will surpass TPOTC's gross. Put it in the bank now
DVC will be strong though and i wouldnt be surprised to see $330-$350m. It will win the Summer IMO

I thought King Kong already knocked The Passion out of the top ten - oh wait -- that was another crazy ass fantasy that never came true...

Edit: Whoops, sorry, Neo. I'm dumb and forgot Passion made 360 and thought you were saying Da Vinci wouldn't even make 100. My bad.

Anything less than $200M total looks very unrealistic at this point.

I think it can get to $300M, but definitely not $370M+. It has no kids/young teens appeal and I doubt it'll receive much repeat viewing. I do think, though, that adults who go see 1-2 movies a year will chose DVC for this year, so..... basically, I think it'll have a pretty damn large audience.
Passion had very strong repeat viewings.

Hahaha, it won't get within $100 million of The Passion.

Nope. According to my amazing theory, Da Vinci Code won't break a sound. 6 billion copies of the Bible sold vs. 40 million. That's a 1/150 ratio. Which means The Da Vinci Code will make about $2.5 million tops.

Certainly not.

Da Vinci Code is in a very great position. Compared to other big summer tentpoles, a box office of 150 m, wouldn't be as profoundly disappointing as say for MI3, POTC 2, X3, and Cars getting in that area. The reason being, those all have previous box office comparisons that have raised the bar for them. Many of these also have higher budgets than The Da Vinci Code does (at $125 m). Thus, The Da Vinci Code has quite a bit of cushion room, where I'd say the industry would still see $150 m, and $180 m finishes still as solid for it, as its an adult film opening in the summer. Da Vinci Code expectations are all over the place, and I'm very confident that it'll outdo those lowered expectations. This has been on Yahoo's top headlines consistently for months, finding ways to pop up, is more talked about than all of the other summer films thus far for the past year, and has the best release date of the year. There is only 1 film imo that can possibly beat POTC 2 this year, and that's The Da Vinci Code...

Not a chance. Passion had a massive number of religious supports plus a lot of curious non-religious types. Di Vinci is just another big fictional Summer blockbuster which'll do well but not Passion well.

Will you marinade it first? It might be kinda crunchy when you get to chomping in a few months.

i've said it before and i'll say it again.
passions made what it did cause it not only tapped into a market but generated repeat viewings from it.
passions made what it did cause it had organizations buying tickets for all of its community for it.
will people who watched passions watch da vinci? probably.
will they return again and again for it like they did for passions? no
will they buy tickets for an entire community? no
this ain't no TPoTC

Sure bABA... just like the other 9 films in the Top 10 had tickets bought by large church groups
Your theory is possibly the worst theory I have ever heard.
And as Kypade said... I shall eat my laptop if this does not pass $350 mil with ease

this isn't about theory. this is about people comparing this film to TPoTC again and again. There is no comparison. If Da Vinci makes 350 million, this is not because of any passion effect. It will make so because of completely different factors.
