 Lady in the Water (Warner Bros., July 21)
Between the mediocre new trailer, the terrible WOM for The Village and the fact that this is WB, I don't see about this can top $30M opening weekend. Legs could be good though.
Opening: 23.5
Total: 77.8 (3.31)

I don't see it making $100 million now. But it'll still do well, I guess.

I think it will have a similiar performance to AI (smaller opening/better legs, though).

I do not understand what this movie is above.
Is Bryce Dallas Howard playing a prostitute?

I think the opening won't be that good but the legs will be, as I expect the WOM to be much better than The Village's.

The Village was a great movie! I loved the part where she took a dump infront of all the townshall people

Wow, good comparison with AI Libs, it sounds the most accurate of any I've heard so far. A film sold much more on the director then anything else with a fantasy theme that I'm sure some people won't "get".

Just an ok performer, compared to what it could've done if handled properly.

look at the weeks leading up to this movies release:
june 30th: superman
july 7th:pirates
july 14th: you me and dupree, my super ex girlfriend
the mega summer blockbuster type movies(superman, pirates) will old, as will the two big comedies.
this will be the first horror / drama movie in god knows how long, probably since da vinci code 2 months ealer, and shymalan still can make a great flick. i give this a
39 million opening due to curiosity/ demand from demographics. Low expects(and I mean LOW after villlage) wont be hard to beat and I see good legs due to adult interest in the coming weeks.
39 with a 3.9 multiplier for a 152 million. This one of the summer movie I can see over preforming as long as it is a good movie; its got more appeal then youd think.

I'm actually more optimistic than most people. I still think a $10K PTA is a reasonable thing to expect. $100m total will certainly depend on the quality.

looking at MNS's track record since his breakout film, the sixth sense
The Sixth Sense = $294M w/ $26M OW
Unbreakable = $95M w/ $30M OW
Signs = $228 w/ $60M OW
Village = $114M w/$51M OW
With Village, he might have lost many moviegoers but if you had watched the LITW trailer, it has a creepy atmosphere, definitely not a bedtime story for the children like the trailer claims it is. Moviegoers will get tired of pirates & the caped flying man, so they will be in the mood for something different, and the answer is LITW. Besides the Village, MNS movies had pretty good legs, so i expect the same here.
OW = $39M
Final = $155M

There goes even more of my hope for this film. The only appealing quality to people for his films are for them to be SCARY. They won't accept anything else. That poster... isn't scary. Maybe a bigger version would be better, I don't know.

HEY!!!!! Check out WB doing their thing again. They just released a trailer that played out the horror/thriller side of the film now they release a poster that makes it look more like a fantasy/fairy tale.

It might have some of those elements in it, but probably very little.

I didn't think it was either, but that's the only way they'll bring in people with Shyamalan. I'm almost thinking he should distance his name from the project entirely.

Are any of his films scary? Signs has it's moments, buy thats about it. Dont think people go see his movies for horror.

Bah, I just watched Signs today, and I contend it is the scariest film I've ever seen. I haven't seen many though as you can tell. The Sixth Sense wasn't scary, just kinda creepy. The Village had tension, but was more of a romantic drama.
