 Why would you see Poseidon?
If you were going to see Poseidon, what is the biggest factor of appeal for you?
For me, It's Fergie from the BEP's big screen debut
I think Fergie will put in a great performance and I will find it difficult to keep my eyes off of her whenever she is on screen.

I actually want to see this more than Mission Impossible. I dont know, It doesnt look "fun" it kind of looks a bit harrowing. After the disaster sets in in the trailer theres a lot of character defining moments.
But im pretty sure it will be as dumb as a bag of rocks and Fergies face will be the only thing that will entertain me

I like the trailer
I like disaster movies
I like the poster
Other than XMEN3, it looks like the best movie in May, In my opinion.
I like entertaining popcorn flicks, and this is without a doubt one of them.
PS. I doubt Fergie's part is big...she has no lines in the trailer or tv spots, and is only shown in the distance.

and thank god for that. I don't think I could handle a big-screen close-up of Fergie, let alone on IMAX.
I'm seeing it because it looks like a decent summer blockbuster, even though I usually have a love/hate relationship with disaster flicks I keep coming back for more, and you don't really need to have done any "homework" to see this movie unlike all the sequels and based on the popular book... movies.
I won't be there the first weekend (cause I want to see it on IMAX and there's none really close by) but I'll be seeing it in theaters eventually.

One of the options should have been because Wolfgang Peterson was directing it.

Hmmmm.....I wouldn't go based solely on Peterson, not after the monstrosity of The Perfect Storm. I want to go just because it kinda looks like a rollicking good time. And I thought the CGI looked pretty impressive....am I wrong?

No, but the option was "what was the biggest factor" ... Lots of action films come out every year, and after a while, they all seem the same, with good CGI and so on. What makes this one different is a good director, so that's why I'd be more inclined to see this one than the same film directed by Michael Bey, for instance.

One of the poll choices should be " WB will pay $50 or more to anybody who wants to watch it, along with 100 headache tablets".
That is pretty much the only thing that will get me to go to this stinker.
I handed out the free advance screening pass to somebody else.

Wolfgang Peterson is hardly a good director.
Das Boot is his only solid "good" movie. Everything else has been borderline suck. The Perfect Storm was horrifically bad, Troy was dull as hell and even Air Force One and Outbreak were like B movies given A movie liberty. Even though they were quite fun.

Does that mean she sings The Morning After? Or My Humps The Morning After?

Air Force One is one of the more entertaining movies to come out in the last ten years in my honest to god opinion. The original is a guilty pleasure of mine, disaster films are tied for my favorite subgenre of film, and the film looks like a LOT of fun. Though for the record, I still wish WB had gotten a really big cast in this one. The original was helped by seeing those big name stars meet grisly demises, and I think if the cast kept Russell, Lucas, and Dreyfuss (but in smaller roles perhaps) and added say Clive Owen, Scarlett Johannson, Natalie Portman, Edward Norton, y'know, a whole bunch of big but not huge names, it could've really been a huge box office bonanza. Still, it's one of my most anticipated films of the year, especially on IMAX.

Petersen is good at making entertaining films. I liked Troy a lot and it grew on me even more after repeat viewings. The Perfect Storm is the only film of his that I find rather dull.

AFO was great entertainment, In the Line of Fire is one of my favorite films of all time, Das Boot was phenomenal, and Troy was decent.... the only stinker he has done is The Perfect Storm, which was a bit too melodramatic....
Even though Peterson has a solid record, I'm hardly convinced this one is going to be worth the price of admission.

not a big fan outside of troy but his films are at the end of the day entertaining if not brilliant. like i said, number one reason to watch the film for me.

Because it looks like cheesy big budget disaster movie fun with the money on the screen. It's also an ensemble cast which is a nice change now and then from the 20m leading man type movies. I don't expect to love this movie, but it looks like a fun night out, whether it ends up good or bad.
The original Posiedon Adventure was insufferably boring. I'm not a fan of remakes in general but sometimes movies have a good idea and execute it so terribly that a remake can only be an improvement even if the remake isn't great. That's the case here.

One, because I think it' going to be a fun, disaster popcorn movie, where you can let your brain rest for an hour and a half.
Two, for Mia Maestro of course whom I'm a fan of, and who does not have wooden acting skills
And third, for what looks like some cheesy CGI effects[ that wave from the tv spots... is it me or did they splice that scene?]

I felt bad writing that about Mia, I really did. But I did not forget her presence in the last episode of Alias!
By the way RTMS, concerning Alias and Mia
[spoil] Mia is supposed to be in the episode "I see Dead People" airing this week [/spoil]
