Post Guys and Gals. 90% of these "sold outs" aren't...
They are lockouts until they can get interlock approvals and or need to run them and in the case of some
of the 10pm shows are lockouts until they know they will have prints ready.

It is legitmately doing very well overseas where it launched in some territories on
Wednesday. Gogreen for example is in South America.

As of this morning at 11AM , 28 tickets sold for tonight. Better than Mr & Mrs Smith, not as good as Bourne Supremacy, so wacky mixed results there.

As to how tonight's shows after they start, I won't have numbers until 1AM PST Friday morning at the earliest

In Southern California.

The only sold out theater is the Archlight in Hollywood. The 10:00 and 11:00 are sold out.

My theater (as of 5:00) sold 15 tickets so far. Don't worry, my theater is never notorious for advanced sales. The Austin Powers 3 previews only got 1/2 full.

Post Early Info...
These three sites do not typically do pre-open shows. About 1/5th better than V FOR VENDETTA's 10PM's. I won't have megaplex numbers until
early morning PST..

OC THEATRE 1:
10:00PM SHOW ONLY
88/350

OC THEATRE 2
10:00PM SHOW ONLY
22/400

LA THEATRE 1
35/375

I wouldn't be too concerned with these sub-par midnight numbers. To me, while this film is certainly hyped it doesn't feel as much like a midnight or especially 10 pm type of film. I could certainly be wrong but I don't think these numbers that far bode either way yet.

Less full than the same showing for V For Vendetta on March 16th. Not sure how that bodes, but it can't be a great sign.

doesn't really mean anything, because MI3 is PG-13. R-rated movies tend to get bigger midnight crowds. I think MI3 will do well, in the 65~70 million range, good start to the summer. ;)

Well I hope many of you weren't expecting some sort of line like with Star Wars or something with thousands of people standing in line for a movie like this just because it opened at Midnight in some areas??? People do have to get up for work you know and TomKitten isn't going to prevent this from happening..

I think people forget that we're not into the actual summer, where schools are off and those 10pm and midnight shows can make a difference. School's still on, and most will wait 'till the weekend.

about 15-25 people at my showing, and they didnt show the Pirates 2 trailer (fuckers), anyway Sups was no better on the big screen but it was still damn good, Im liking the new sups he looks kewl.

MI3 is the shit, totaly awesome watch. I think Cruise out acted Hoffman 10-0. favorite scene was the building hop  far better than the 2nd and on par wit hteh first, overall great film.

BJs Grade:

Post Remainder of Megaplexes...combined did about BOURNE 2 biz
From 90-100%. About 10% higher than MR & MRS SMITH.

...and the R-rated films do better than PG-13 films for pre-open comment?

Not true from my experience, though spy thrillers typically don't do that well. Only
SIN CITY as far as R rated films way exceeded expectations. Now on Friday and
Saturday nights that can be a different story, but it's the PG-13 blockbusters like
Fantastic Four/Batman/Harry Potter/Spider-Man/etc that rake in the dough.

Usual Megaplex:
10PM: 91
MIDNIGHT: 184

OC Megaplex:
10PM: 192
MIDNIGHT: 238

Inland Empire:
10PM: 84
MIDNIGHT: 181

I meant the R-rated moves do better than PG-13 movies for midnight shows IF it doesn't have a geeky fanbase, such as superhero movies, comic book movies, or Harry Potter/Star Wars/Serenity. That may cover a lot of movies, but MI3 is not one of them (which is a typical action blockbuster). Sorry if it seems like I'm blindly defending it, but I'm just saying out of experience of working at two theaters for over 5 years. ;)

Maybe 100 people in a 350 seater here.... not bad.

This one doesn't seem like the type of picture to attract early crowds....

BTW, the 10:00 show at my theater did 175 people. On par with V for Vendetta.
