Mr. and Mrs. Smith prediction thread
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Trailer:
http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&id=1808623299&cf=trailer
Release Date: June 10
Studio: Fox
Director: Doug Liman
Starring: Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Vince Vaughn, Angela Bassett
Budget: $100,000,000
Summary : A married couple (Pitt and Jolie) are getting bored with their quiet domestic life. What they don't know, however, is that they're both assassins, secretly hopping the world and killing for hire. But their separate lives are about to collide when each finds out their next target is their own spouse.
My Prediction :
36/109
THis looks like a decent action flick from the trailer, i cant think of any others actioners opening next year so this seems to be the only one. Oh yeah, XXX2. This should be able to score a good opening weekend, not many major releases in the genre, but Batman the week after. Plus its about time Jolie had a hit. Action and Jolie for the guys and Pitt for the ladies, what are your predictions?

My first reaction is kind of negative. However, it's too early, I'll wait to see more before making a prediction.

Seriously, usually, I'd predict this high and it does look good, but...
Angelina Jolie truly seems to be a box-office poison. I think she is a great actress and she is one of my favorites, but if you take a look at her track record...well, it speaks for itself....
Life or Something like It, Original Sin, Taking Lives, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Alexander....even Tomb Raider 2 was highly disappointing.
At the moment, Isee:
Opening weekend - $23.5 million
Total gross - $66 million
Tomb Raider 2-like numbers.

Brad Pitt + Angelina Jolie in 1 movie = a bisexual's dream
I'm still torn, I do think it will make more than 75 million though.

The trailer looks very weak. I don't think it will bomb, but I think it will barely match its production budget, if that.
Opening: $37 million
Total: $91 million

You left out Shark Tale.
Oh wait, that wasn't a bomb. That was actually quite a hit.
Well Mr. and Mrs. Smith has a great release date, and I think it'll appeal to both genders (guys= Angelina, girls= Brad Pitt). I see:
51/150

Shark Tale is a CGI animated movie. It'd be even successful with Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck...

I don't this movie will open to these heights of over $40M some of you are predicting (come on), but I do think it should be able to open with at least $20M-25. I'd say a finish of $105-115M seems likely.

It's not like it was because of her. I bet 75% of the people who saw that movie didn't even know she was in it.

You're right, but I didn't say that. I just said it was a hit for her.
