The trailer thread in Trailer Park has a link to a site of Quicktime mirrors. They load a little slow, but tolerable.
Jackson deliberately chose to make the endings of FotR and TTT semi-closed. It worked fine for FotR. And I'm sorry, but that weepy we-will-overcome voiceover ending on TTT was darn near intolerable. (the battles and stuff were okay.) Even then it didn't hurt RotK because the rest of TTT was so good. If PotC 2 is good overall, I don't think it will effect PotC 3.
Lecter, I like your numbers, but I'm more inclined to give it stronger legs. I still can't decide between the $305-315 range and the $335-345 range.

lotr it's NOT! boxoffice wise.
these sequels will not make more than the orignal. i'd bet on it.
you can give me all the reasons it will. won't change the inevitable.
$280m is not bad for a sequel. it's in the harry potter range so it's all good.

Da Vinci is no more threat to PotC2's opening weekend.
X3 still is though. Those 2 will fight for the biggest opening of the year.

There is no way this will open below $100m. I just can't find a reason.

The only way Pirates 2 comes in under $100 million is if ticket prices suddenly balloon to $20 a pop. And even then, it could just inflate the gross.

Well, amongst the fandom, WOM is already out, from a certain point of view. Some fans managed to get their hands on the junior novelization, plus we've got a few insiders giving us hints and sometimes outright answers to our questions.
Many of us know just about the whole story now, and with every new piece of information, everyone keeps getting more and more excited. Now, WOM on the actual performances, etc. will have to wait 'til the movie's out, but in terms of WOM concerning the story, I've seen nothing but positive reactions (well... there are a few negative, but it's more of a "OMG! NO!" shock-reaction rather than a "that's stupid" negative reaction).

That's fine, but it's not your group of fanatics who are going to make the film a hit -- that'll be Joe Six-Pack. Pirates of the Caribbean isn't Star Wars, it's Indiana Jones.

Superman and pirates will be like DVC and x-men 3 but with larger totals.
DVC 77/240
x-men 3 105 (4-day)/230
Superman 85/290
Pirates 95/320

Superman won't do nearly 300 million when the better-looking Batman Begins did only a little over 200 million.
