M:I 3 - 70 mil. Deserves so much to disappoint if only because of the wacko in the lead role.
Hoot - 8.5 million. Very little audience outside of fans of the book and it wasn't nearly as popular as Holes.
American Haunting - 4 million. Horror never works in May, let alone poorly marketed horror.

American Haunting's theater estimate dropped to 1,500. Freestyle Releasing has no experience dealing with wide releases. The obstacles seem to be too strong for any kind of decent opening.

I like Ving Rhames. It's Tom Cruise I despise. I don't know how you get off calling me a racist.

I don't know why you guys think HOOT is going to bomb so bad. It has a huge fan base from the book, and many families will go see it because there isn't much out in the family market place besides RV and MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 3, which some families won't go to.

It looks like treacle crap that even families will ignore because it looks too corny even for them.

Tracking...
Quote: Last Weekend:
RV: 16.4 EST ACTUAL MTC: 16 MILLION RS: 24 million FLT93: 11.6 EST ACTUAL MTC: 13 MILLION RS: 11 STICK: MTC: 9 MILLION RS: 7 AKEELAH: MTC: 7 MILLION RS: 8
MTC: MI3: 68 MILLION HOOT: 6 MILLION AMERICAN HAUNTING: 5 MILLION
RS MI3: 77 MILLION [-12 MILLION] HOOT: 8 MILLION AMERICAN HAUNTING: 5 MILLION
RS FUTURE: DA VINCI CODE: 48 MILLION OVER THE HEDGE: 45 MILLION POSEIDON: 39 GOAL: 8 MILLION JUST MY LUCK: 11 MILLION
I was a bit worried that MTC would be under $60 million, but thank God it's closer to $70 million.

There's no way Goal will make as much as they think. Seems low for Just My Luck considering Lohan usually opens films in the 15-16 million range.

Da Vinci only tracking at $48 million? It'll probably go up, but that doesn't look good.

Poseidon tracking down slightly. I think by the end of this week, it will track around 35 million but I think the movie may pull in under 30 million like V for Vendetta. Seriously I barely hear anyone that excited for Poseidon
BTW didnt Future Source have MI3 at 88 million and now MTC has it down to 68 million. Thats like a 20 million difference

Poseidon isn't down at all? It stayed the same from last week.
And, ReelSource often overprojects films with awareness. They had RV and The Shaggy Dog both over $25 million opening weekend, while MTC had them under $18 million and turned out to be right.

DVC is being overpredictted, IMO. Adults typically don't rush out on OW like teens do, so this leads me to believe it will be long legs over over a massive weekend. I think the MTC tracking seems about right at the moment.

The Da Vinci Code's tracking isn't from MTC, it's from ReelSource. I think it looks fine. I've had a feeling for a while that it might be overpredicted. It'll be a leggy film, but not a huge, $70+ million opening weekend.
BTW, M:I-3 is on Moviefone, to no surprise.

Not a good sign at all for MI3. Mad props to DP07 if this doesn't clear 65 million this weekend. Honestly, I wouldn't b e surprised. Mission: Impossible is a brand name, but the trailers don't really supply that "money shot" to make me think it'd be a lock for 75-80+ million.
