Which ones? The ones from that new poster? If that's what you're referring to, those ARE stills from the first film. That design is a slightly altered version of the cover for Walt Disney Co's 2005 Annual Report which just came out. Someone sent it to CanMag as a possible new poster design, but the proportions were wrong for a poster and us rumrunners were easily able to identify the exact shots used from the film film's photo shoot. But now it seems Disney decided to keep that design and use it for one of their international posters.

I'm guessing that with all the delays in the production of the sequels, they haven't had time to do a photo shoot for DMC, so they had to use publicity shots from the first film for their cover and for the French poster. I doubt that we'll see images from the first film in the US theatrical poster.

PS: I love your predictions, BJ!

-15M+ DVD copies sold, many bought by families
-The wide demographics it reaches, from little kids to teens to twentysomethings to parents to seniors, all of both sexes
-Disney will most definently put it in some huge-ass amount of theaters
-It will get plenty of media hype
-Unlike BTTF or Matrix, POTC is light entertainment, and therefore can get away with a light plot and probably and will probably end with some hint at POTC3 or some light cliffhanger, not like TMR or BTTF2's 'WTF?' endings

I still find this all very valid, and stand by it.

No it won't. ITs way too late right now and teaser and SB ad already have it at July 7th. Plus, it doesn't want to be any closer to SR than it is. POTC2 will let SR open huge and then burn out so that POTC2 can take over.

It's business dude. They'll wanne squeeze as much $$ as they can the first week.
Watch and see. I'd put money they'll move up the release day to wed.
It's been done before, it'll be done again.

Exactly. It's business. It would hurt their business by opening it on a Wed. SR steam will still be a bit strong. POTC2 will NOT move.

nope i don't see it that way.
gotta find an example for you.....

I wouldn't be surprised to see it go on a Wednesday actually. Shrek 2, Spider-man 2, Matrix Reloaded, Episode III on Thursday. It happens more often than not for the mega blockbusters.

Not sure if they'd switch it this late though.

the only example closest is 2003 when T3 & POTC opened a week apart. but that's backward cause the sequel opened up first and the newbie second. and also T3 was r rated and it sucked. ;)

anyways they will do it. ;) cause they (studio heads) are bunch of greedy bastards first and foremost.

Their greed blinds them from seeing that. So they move it up.
All they'll be seeing is the $$$ from two extra days.

They're not going to move it. To move it now would be STUPID financially. The marketing already has the July 7 date out there and quite visible. And the date has been set for over a year now (maybe even closer to a year and a half). People know the July 7th date; changing it now would be financially suicidal.

It didn't hurt Shrek 2, and it's not like people are jotting down July 7th and saying "I have to get that day off of work!" I think the date has less to do with Superman Returns and more to do with the opening weekend record; Disney wants it badly, and they know a Wednesday opening could hurt the 3-day tally.

Yeah, that too.

And I know *I* have already jotted down the date in order to ask for it off (and I know several others who are also making plans for that day as well).

Everything's a matter of opinion. But they don't look up to the standard of Barbossa's crew in the first movie.

Well, remember that we still have two months before the movie comes out. A lot can be done in that amount of time concerning graphics and what-not. Remember that PotC2 has been hugely behind schedule with everything, so there's no way that all the graphics are 100% done yet.

The movie's out in two months, which means FX have to be finalized within two or three weeks. I'd assume anything that's in the trailer is final. And honestly, how often do these kinds of things change between trailer and film? The only film that comes to mind is Star Wars: Attack of the Clones' teaser, which hit six months before release.

i wont question the hype, im sure thatll be there.

the fact is, this is like reading abook and then when you think yur done you only see that your halfway through. the ending isnt really an ending. i dont see how this can have great legs just because once people see it, theyll just be wanting to know what happens in 3. that and my super ex girlfriend, and you mean ddupree, look to be 100 million hits each; and they open in this films second weekend.

Yeah, but to pass the time before the new one, we'll be seeing PotC2 over and over and over again, to relive all the best moments (and believe, there are some really *awesome* moments that'll have quite a few people wanting to rewatch them over and over again... ;)).

As for the graphics, I think they look great; I think if anything looks bad, it'd be due to the quality of the video. But we won't have to wait long to test it out... The high quality, non-commentated trailer will be out sometime on Monday (tomorrow) via the winner of the MySpace contest. Now it all just depends on when they contact the winner....

I actually think this one looks better than the first. I hope it fixes the pacing problems the first had and it could be great. If anything, it looks more prestigious now as its cast boasts two Oscar nominated actors.

Wow shit, that clip package was awesome. The teaser really disappointed me, so that soothes me a lot. I'm definitley hoping the full trailers knocks the socks off, the movie is pretty much my most anticipated of the year. If the trailer really is amazing, I *might* start believing in the 350 mil+ club.
