It's...interesting.

Kinda reminds me of Beetlejuice, but the trailer looks way too childish (not the wild speed of the teaser, but the actual images) to prove to be a big success.

I'm still hyped up for it, but, that'll be waaay too fast for most.

In its defence, it is on the verge of being so preposterous as to be good.

I thought the end was hilarious, with depp hitting the camera, but that's just my opinion.

Planet of the Apes all over again for Burton, except with a much weaker opening?

I'm sorry DP, but I think it's too early to compare it to a modern classic like that.

I mean, the teaser wasn't paritcularly spectacular.

I will now roll my eyes:

Let us resume the bickering now: 8)

A few comments:

The first thought that came to my mind was not good. The trailer is way to fast paced, even for a teaser it seemed to be short. The music was extremely annoying as well. While Tim Burton has a record of producing rather odd films, this certainly seems to be a film that perhaps is out of his league. My expectations for the film have dropped very quickly.

On second viewing, the music isn't so terrible. It's actually kind of catchy. Now I just have to get it out of my head!

That was...odd, to say the least.

I'll give it points for originality, though.

I'm sure Burton designed it like that for a reason. Any press is good press as they say. Though perhaps he just did it for the hell of it.

My thoughts:

Seems to be closer in tone with the book than the original film.

Odd and crazy clips. What else would you expect from the team behind Ed Wood and a story about a highly dangerous chocolate factory?

Overall great teaser.

Yes. Anyone seen the original recently. It already is pretty damn freaky even though it was targetted at kids. Its like the se7ev of kiddie candyland. Its pretty odd, these glutonous kids sweeling to massice blueberries and going down chutes of bad eggs when they get too greedy. Well, Burton is pegging not so much on the new kiddie generation as the now older nostalgic one. This is going to be much more adult oriented, hence why he is really taking it up a notch.

I remember the book, was it not Dahl, having these little sketches of a giant blob in four elevators. My memory is shaky though, but it was pretty odd. Burton is making this for 15-20 year olds, and hoping its so over the top kids will come anyways. Judging from re-watching the original, kids don't pick up on the more vicious messages anyways, as long as there is enough color and movement. Apparently there is. That music, btw, is probably just being played over the entirity of the trailer when in fact, its just in the tunnel scene.

Remember the tunnel scene from the first one?

 f.r.e.a.k.y.

I think it'll do fine, Depp will be a huge draw, especially with the POTC and Benny and June background. It is going to be a solid movie, and probably develop a cult following afterwards.

Well, I have seen the trailer twice now and I have to say, I didn't hate it as much the second time around. The sets look inventive, that's for sure. However, I still don't really have an opinion on this one. It looks....................okay.
