On second thought, I think I rented the wrong version of Dangerous Liaisons...

Damn, that was absolutely fantastic. Close was perfect. The whole cast was perfect. So nasty, evil, cunning, and beautiful....

Why did this not *sweep* the Oscars?

More thoughts to come. Wonderful pick

For one thing, Davis was incredible as Muriel Pritchet. I almost put Accidental Tourist down for my top ten nominees of the decade slot over Working Girl, but realized that would be, two William Hurt movies out of ten possible slots, and that everyone would think I was weird.

I do think Close was divine however. I knew everyone who saw Cruel Intentions would be sad they hadn't seen this one first.

Sad thing is...even with only nine votes reporting, look at its rating out of ten stars!

I saw that Michael Lucas production... :|

Purportedly the biggest budgeted of its kind.

Davis is wonderful, but I'm still kind of miffed. Close has a trophy, right? Working Girl is fun, but I'm surprised it made the list. Doesn't seem to fit, as much as I enjoyed it. Tis alright and refreshing anyway. And I'm sure SO many people would have noticed the Hurt recurrence.

I saw Cruel Intentions first, regrettably. I knew the ending, but was otherwise impressed greatly with the performances and especially the score. The scenery was a treat, too. Close really was out of this world. It's a role for the ages.

This surprises you? It looks like solid entertainment.

I know... all of them in the 80's too.

*prays that Sunset Boulevard will be Close's big comeback*

Her and Sigourney make my heart shatter. Weaver was the number one reason I liked Working Girl. :-)

Anything with Weaver is gold. She was the best part of The Ice Storm. I loved that movie....

She should have won so many times over. I thought Aliens should have been the "Big" Win.

Still waiting for Zing, jmart and some others to report!

And as haerpinot has said, Pfeiffer didn't impress me that much, really, but Malkovich was completely overlooked in this film. He was top-notch.

Malkovich is ALWAYS good, but I'm not sure how versatile he can be.

Pfeiffer was good, but I was far more interested in the interactions between Close and Malkovich.

:hahaha:

Does the "plot" have anything to do with the original? Or it just seemed cool to have a name like that in a porn?

As the Dangerous Liasons discussion is now as dead as John Denver, I suggest we move on to The Apartment (unless there's some last minute surge of support for something else.)

Write-in votes in favor of Marty.

Yeah, I thought the Ernest Borgnine contingent had been suspiciously quiet during all this.
