My only comment is: he's nuts if he thinks DaVinci tops off at $135 million.
135m is not low for a talk-heavy adult drama with very little action, in which the lead has a terrible hair cut.

Tell that to Sixth Sense

All that proves is that a movie like that is capable of breaking out, which I agree DVC could. But you can't count on that.

As I understand it, Poland didn't think the second X-Men wouldn't do much more than the first one, and is convinced that still would have been the case if it and the Hulk exchanged places.

He's clearly given it a bit of thought. It's actually the worst bit of box office prediting I've seen in quite sometime. If this is what the summer actually musters, then Hollywood is in trouble. X-Men will make closer to 200 than 150 and to say that Davinci makes a miniscule 135 is a joke. He put thought into these predictions? Sure, maybe while he was taking a shit he thought about writing the column, otherwise, this is a joke.
I agree that X-men will make closer to 200 than 150. But Da Vinci's very much a wild card at the mo'. I don't doubt it'll cross $100 million. But I can't see it being the breakout hit everyone here seems to think. Personally, I think $150 will be tops.

That's a good thing considering his other predictions.

Id love for Da Vinci Code to disapoint - but it aint gonna happen. DaVinci is looking at $200m as a minimum. Thats a ridiculous set of numbers from Poland - his worst yet. Anyone have his predictions from last year so we can compare?

I remember even last year saying to myself, "you know...only ROTS looks like the most accurate predict". Same thing I'm saying about his predicts this year, except I think only POTC2 is an accurate predict
The funny thing looking back at those predictions was that he should have switched Kicking and Screaming ($100 m) w/ Virgin ($50 m).

Yep.
This year Poland's predictions look way off. There is no way The DaVinci Code does only $135M.

wow a bit of a mixed bag. But I think better than his predictions this year. XXX2 - in hindsight that is so laughable. Domino

Who wants to go see a movie about politics? Especially church politics?!?
The super optimistic people here are getting scared about their DaVinci Code predictions...

Sure -- church politics, conspiracies, etc. -- big deal. It's not the second coming...
